Megan Rapinoe didn’t mince words.

United States soccer legend Megan Rapinoe blasted the men’s Olympic hockey team over their involvement with President Donald Trump following their gold medal game triumph.

On Sunday, Jack Hughes scored the overtime winner for the men’s team to beat Team Canada 2-1 in the gold medal game. It was the first Olympic gold medal for the U.S. men’s hockey team since 1980, and their first best-on-best tournament win since the 1996 World Cup of Hockey.

After the game, controversy ensued when FBI Director Kash Patel came in to party with the men’s team in the locker room. On top of that, some players could be heard laughing on their phone call with President Donald Trump, who joked about having to invite the U.S. women’s team. The women’s club also won gold, defeating Canada 2-1 in overtime.

Megan Rapinoe is a longtime critic of President Trump. She didn’t hold back in criticizing the men’s team for how they handled their saga with Trump. Rapinoe made the comments on the “A Touch More” podcast that she co-hosts with her wife, Sue Bird.

Here’s what Rapinoe said (h/t the Daily Mail):

“They allowed themselves to be co-opted by a clown. And now you’re a clown. You look like a clown. Kash Patel is in the locker room, partying, chugging beers. I’m not decorum over everything. That’s not what I need out of my FBI director. Like, what are we doing?

‘They get on the phone with Trump and Trump makes the comment about the women’s team. We’re not gonna play it, it’s all over the internet and we’re not gonna platform that trash…You just accomplished this amazing thing. You just gave this whole moment over to this person who you know is only going to use it for him.

First of all, the joke isn’t even funny. I don’t understand the funny part of the joke. And, like, why don’t you respect you more than to have that moment be taken by someone who for no reason at all takes a huge swing and a jab at women who did the exact same thing as you did…

To have the President of the United States on the phone, you get yourself wrapped in this moment. For me, the choice point is like, I would’ve never as a captain or a leader on my team, that would’ve been clear to our staff and to the larger organization and support staff, those people would never be allowed in our locker room…

For me, I left this whole interaction, why don’t you respect you enough? And now, this is what people think about your moment. And that sucks.”

Perhaps Trump or some of the men’s players will have a response to Rapinoe.

Multiple players from the U.S. team have defended their decisions to visit Trump at the White House attend the State of the Union address. Auston Matthews, Jack Hughes, and Jake Sanderson said they didn’t want the saga to become political.

As for Rapinoe, her public feud with President Trump dates back to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. He said it was “inappropriate” for Rapinoe to kneel during the national anthem performance. After the Americans won the tournament, Rapinoe said she would not go to the White House.

After Sweden eliminated USA in the 2019 Women’s World Cup, Trump taunted Rapinoe on Truth Social. He wrote that, “WOKE EQUALS FAILURE.”

Luka Doncic ‘destroys’ the Mavs on his return. Gets standing ovation and shows love to Mark Cuban

Luka Doncic hits 45 points in his first game in Dallas since being traded to the Los Angeles.

It’s rare for a home crowd to cheer the visiting team, but Luka Doncic’s return to Dallas was no ordinary night.

Just days before February’s trade deadline, the Mavericks shocked the NBA by sending their 26-year-old superstar to the Lakers—a move that outraged fans and sparked backlash toward GM Nico Harrison.

On Wednesday, Doncic played his first game back in Dallas since the trade. The arena was filled with fans in both his old Mavs and new Lakers jerseys, many chanting “Fire Nico” in protest.

Despite the emotion in the air, Doncic delivered a dominant performance, scoring a game-high 45 points to lead the Lakers to a 112-97 win. It was a powerful return for one of the league’s brightest stars—and a night Dallas won’t soon forget

The Mavericks pay tribute to Luka Dončić

While the Mavericks’ decision to trade Luka Doncic remains heavily criticized, they handled his return to Dallas with undeniable grace. The organization made sure his first game back as a Laker was met with respect and appreciation.

Every seat in the arena was draped with a T-shirt reading “Hvala za vse,” which translates from Slovenian to “thank you for everything.” It was a thoughtful nod to Doncic’s heritage and impact on the franchise.

Before tip-off, during the starting lineup announcements, the Mavericks played a tribute video showcasing some of Doncic’s most iconic moments in a Dallas jersey. The emotional gesture clearly resonated—moving Doncic to tears in front of the crowd that once called him their own.

From the opening tip, Doncic was locked in. By halftime, Doncic had racked up 31 points on 11-of-16 shooting in just 19 minutes—marking the 10th time in his career he’s scored 30 or more in a single half.

Though his scoring slowed in the second half, he continued to lead effectively, securing both a Lakers win and an unforgettable showing for the fans in Dallas.
