‘9-1-1’ Grieves Bobby in New Season 8 Images
We’ve all carried around heavy hearts since our beloved Captain Boby Nash (Peter Krause) was killed off the last time on 9-1-1 Season 8. Bobby’s d3ath ranks quite high among the most heart-wrenching TV d3aths, and it will take a while before we can fully recover. A part of us is still wishing and hoping Bobby’s demise was a fakeout, but, alas, it’s a reality as confirmed by showrunner Tim Minear, as well as other cast members on the show. That brutal reality will make our hearts sink even deeper as audiences, alongside the 118 team, will pay their last respects to Bobby in Episode 16. Courtesy of TV Line, we have some new looks at the episode we could never have predicted in our wildest dreams.
We’re all devastated by Bobby’s d3ath, but perhaps no one will feel the impact of this great loss more than his wife, Athena Grant (Angela Bassett). A previously released teaser saw an emotional and helpless Athena weeping inconsolably, and we see more of that pain in her eyes in one of the newly released images as she stares at a portrait of Bobby at the funeral. The other image is a photo of Bobby’s men in procession, led by Chimney (Kenneth Choi), and Buck (Oliver Stark) as pallbearers accompanying his casket to the graveside. As if Bobby’s funeral wasn’t enough stress for the 118 in the next episode, the emotional stakes will be raised a notch by what Minear describes as a “mass casualty event,” which will begin to play out in the next episode.
We’ve Not Seen The Last of Bobby Nash In ‘9-1-1’ Season 8
If it is any consolation, Bobby’s emotional d3ath scene, while it was quite honorable with the cameras panning to his helmet, won’t be the last memory we’ll have of the selfless captain. Minear earlier revealed that audiences will get to see some more of him in the next episode. While emphasizing that he’s indeed dead, the showrunner hinted that Bobby will return in some form of flashback scenes, saying, “You’re going to see him before the end of the season, that you’re going to see him in some of those ways that you have enumerated. I don’t want to mislead anyone. He’s dead.”
As for who will take the baton from Bobby and assume the position of the 118’s new captain, Minear has revealed he’s in no hurry to name a replacement. “Yeah, I’m not solving that problem right away for the rest of this season. There is an interim captain there who is not going to be the captain going forward, but the last three episodes are not about who’s in Bobby’s chair. The last three episodes are about that chair is empty.”
9-1-1 Season 8, Episode 16, will air on ABC on Thursday, May 1. It’s guaranteed to be another tearjerker, so ready your tissues as we give our final salute to the cap.
