HEARTBREAKING: Brittany Mahomes Reveals “Painful Condition” She’s Suffering Through

Brittany Mahomes Dealing With Painful ‘Mother’s Injury’

Brittany Mahomes opens up about year-long injury.

Brittany Mahomes is dealing with a painful wrist condition while her husband, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, works his way back from injury this offseason.

Patrick Mahomes continues his recovery from a torn ACL suffered late in the 2025 season. Head coach Andy Reid said the star quarterback could take part in some offseason activities. The Chiefs will open OTAs from May 26 to 28, and Reid sounded optimistic about Mahomes’ progress.

“He is in a good position to be able to do some things,” Reid said. “If he can do some things, [he’ll do it]. Phase 2, remember, there’s no contact and there’s no offense versus defense.”

While Mahomes focuses on his comeback, Brittany Mahomes faces a different kind of health issue. She revealed on Instagram that she has battled De Quervain’s tenosynovitis for about a year. Many people call the condition “Mother’s wrist.”

“To find out I have this,” Brittany wrote. “Been battling it for probably around a year now thinking it will get better, well it never did and started to get pretty bad…so now I get to wear this cool thing.”

Doctors link De Quervain’s tenosynovitis to overuse of the wrist and thumb. Marin Health explains, “The tendons run in a tunnel, and with overuse, the tunnel and the tendons can become inflamed and irritated.”

This condition often happens when parents lift and carry their kids a lot. That movement puts pressure on the wrist and thumb in awkward ways. Over time, it can cause pain and swelling.

People with this issue usually feel pain at the base of the thumb. It can hurt when they move their thumb down or twist their wrist. Some also notice swelling or even a small lump in that area.

Even with the pain, Brittany is staying active. Her update shows how everyday parenting can take a physical toll.

While Patrick Mahomes works toward returning to the field, Brittany is dealing with her own recovery. Both are managing injuries at the same time.
