After successfully taking the 2-1 lead against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference semifinal series, the Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum was in the spirits of Mother’s Day. The Cs forwards appeared in an interview with Taylor Rooks where his mother candidly talked about some unknown facts regarding a young Jayson Tatum.
Brandy shot him with random questions regarding basketball, interrupting his playtime during his childhood. She used to make him hold a remote or a brush as a microphone and asked him how he would deal with interviews. The young Tatum, confused about his mother’s behavior, would frequently ask her, “Mom, who’s going to ask me these questions?”
Jayson Tatum never understood why his mother Brandy would ask him basketball questions as a young kid, but she was preparing him for the NBA 🙏
Shoutout to the moms who always believe! Happy Mother’s Day ❤️

To that, his mother would reply, “Duh, the reporters from ESPN and TNT,” and further added, “You’re going to be one of the best players in the world.” This used to make Tatum laugh back then, but he appreciated his mother’s input in preparing him for the big stage. Tatum gives credit to his mother for playing a huge role in his childhood, which made him into the outstanding NBA player he is now handling pressure on and off the court.
The 26-year-old stood tall in the Celtics jersey averaging 26.9 points per game this regular season and 23.1 points per game in the 2024 playoffs. Apart from his on-court contribution, Tatum is widely popular for giving back to society, which was a result of his mother’s inspiration.
Jayson Tatum Extended His Help to Single Parents
Being brought up single-handedly by his mother, Jayson Tatum knows the hardships of single parents. As shelter is a primary need, the 5-time All-Star decided to extend his help to single-parent families who have lower incomes in his hometown, St. Louis, Missouri, to buy houses with a down payment.
The finance company SoFi announced that they will donate more than $1 million to the Jayson Tatum Foundation to fulfil the noble dream of helping the less fortunate.

His Foundation has been running since 2017 and helps several local organizations in Missouri, providing education, inspiring younger minds with mentorship, and helping them to grow in athletic fields. With his beautiful vision on and off the court, Tatum certainly made his mother proud, who made sure she raised her son to be a man of the people.
