ESPN NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky is fighting for a tremendous cause.

Orlovsky, a former quarterback for the Detroit Lions, has become a prominent ESPN analyst and gained thousands of fans as a result. He has been featured on “Get Up” and “NFL Live,” among other shows.

His hard work continues to pay off, as he was nominated for the Sports Emmy for Best Analyst award. Not everybody can win, which he didn’t, but being nominated means he was doing something right.

When he’s not on television talking about sports, he is online trying to do wonderful things to help others.

Dan Orlovsky announced Thursday morning that he will play 100 holes of golf on June 17 to raise awareness for ALS research.

Orlovsky will be teaming up with his friend Chuck Haberstroh to accomplish this goal.

“On June 17th, coming up here, I’m going to play 100 holes of competitive golf with my boy Chuck Haberstroh,” Orlovsky said. “We’re doing it for awareness and research and to raise funds for ALS.

“ALS is an awful disease – I didn’t know a ton about it. I played a guy named Tim Shaw, a linebacker from the Titans, who got it. A lot of people know Steve Gleason from the Saints, who got it. Then I watched Chuck Haberstroh lose his mom to this awful disease.”
