The celebrities competing on Season 34 of DWTS are close to their final dance. The season finale airs next week, and ABC is shaking things up in a huge way. Keep reading for all the details on a shocking twist for the remaining contestants.
DWTS Contestant’s Relative Finally Makes Appearance
The celebrities on DWTS usually have their family and close friends in the live studio audience rooting them on. Those close friends are sometimes celebrities themselves. Several of the Season 34 contestants have had the support of famous faces. Robert Irwin’s sister, Bindi, who previously won DWTS, has been a regular in the ballroom.

So has Abbott Elementary star Lisa Ann Walter, who is the real-life bestie of Elaine Hendrix. Robert Irwin got surprising support from Prince William in a video address last week. It made fans wonder why Dylan Efron’s famous brother, High School Musical star Zac Efron, hadn’t traveled to Los Angeles, California, to show his support.
The actor moved to Australia, but DWTS fans pointed out that Robert Irwin lives in Australia and managed to travel to the U.S. to compete on the show. The watch for Zac Efron finally ended. He was in the audience to cheer his brother on during the Prince-themed episode earlier this week.
In fact, some fans even think Zac’s appearance helped his brother get votes, saving him from elimination.
Shocking Twist For Season 34 Finale
DWTS viewers have chosen their top 4 celebrities from Season 34. Robert Irwin and Witney Carson, Alix Earle and Val Chmerkovskiy, Elaine Hendrix and Alan Bersten, and Jordan Chiles and Ezra Sosa are the remaining contestants in the running for the coveted Mirrorball Trophy.
Any one of them could win, but ABC is making it more “demanding” than ever. “Next week, we’re taking over all of ABC in primetime with our most demanding season finale in the history of the show. For the first time, we’ll have three rounds of competition,” Alfonso Ribeiro revealed on the November 18th episode.
According to E! News, each couple will perform an “Instant Dance,” where couples learn a routine but don’t know the song. Another fan-favorite finale dance returns when the celebrities perform a no-holds-barred freestyle that doesn’t have the rules the other dances have.
The third dance wasn’t revealed yet. Season 34 has already had a lot of surprises for fans, including past champions coming back to dance with current celebrities.
The change in format comes amid fans claiming the show is rigged with a winner already chosen by producers. Some fans want to see the judges’ save return for Season 35 to help keep the competition fair.
Tell us in the comments which of the finalists you think will dance an iconic freestyle to end the season. Stay tuned for the names of the celebrities joining the DWTS Live Tour in early 2026.
