First overall pick Paige Bueckers got some very positive news heading into Sunday’s homestand.
The Dallas Wings guard has missed each of the last three games after being placed in the WNBA’s concussion protocol following last week’s loss to the Chicago Sky — leading to even further slippage in the standings for the league’s worst team.
Prior to her going out, the former UConn star was averaging 14.7 points (second on Dallas’ team), 6.7 assists (fourth in the WNBA), 4.7 rebounds and 2.0 steals. And according to ESPN’s Alexa Philippou, Paige just took a major step towards returning to the floor.
Per the women’s basketball reporter: “Paige Bueckers has cleared concussion protocol after missing the last three games for the Dallas Wings. The team is listing her as probable with an illness heading into tomorrow’s tilt against the Minnesota Lynx.”
Getting Bueckers back on the court would be a welcome sight for Wings fans as she also leads the team in minutes and gave them some hope with a 21-point performance on 80% shooting in May 27’s blowout win over Connecticut.
Since then though, Dallas is riding a four-game losing skid with losses to the Sky, Storm and Los Angeles Sparks. And unfortunately for them things aren’t getting much easier with the undefeated Lynx, 6-3 Mercury and Vegas Aces on the horizon.

The Wings’ issues certainly run deeper than not having Bueckers in the starting lineup. But having her back will go a long way in making them more competitive in a Western Conference that’s kind of crowded at the bottom.
Dallas tips off against Napheesa Collier and the Lynx tomorrow evening at 4 PM ET. Minnesota enters the College Park Center as 9.5-point favorites according to ESPNBET.
