As funny as it is, Angel Reese never said it

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese has developed a reputation as one of the country’s most entertaining trash-talking athletes.

Love her or hate her, Angel Reese’s style, trash-talking, and well-documented rivalry with Caitlin Clark have been great for the WNBA. “The Caitlin Clark effect” has been the ultimate difference-maker for the league, but Reese has also developed a strong following of her own since turning pro in 2024.

Over the past year, a viral quote has been attributed to Reese. The internet has falsely claimed that the former LSU star once said, “Y’all make $1,400 a week, I make $1,400 in seven days.”

Though the quote is obviously fake, it didn’t stop social media from delivering plenty of hilarious responses anyway. Even Reese herself had to chime in:

“Am i reading that wrong orrrrrrr cause how many days in a week?” a fan asked.

“Here we go again,” said another.

“She knows what she’s talking about. 7days and one week ain’t the same!!!!” a user commented.

“angel reese to her haters is the perfect sports energy. confidence without apology is the entire brand,” wrote a fan.

“Man if I could make $1400 a week playing basketball I’d be satisfied,” another said.

Just another warning to not believe everything that you read on the internet, folks.

Reese and the Sky have a tough start to their 2026 regular-season schedule, as it begins with a four-game road trip. They’ll kick off the year with a road game against the Portland Fire, a brand new expansion franchise, on May 9.

Last year, Reese averaged 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game, via ESPN. Chicago finished with a disappointing 10-34 record, tied with the Dallas Wings for worst in the WNBA.

Reese has done her part to keep the Sky competitive. We’ll find out soon enough if the rest of the roster can step up and bring Chicago back to the postseason for the first time since 2023.
