NBA Legend Paul Pierce Hospitalized After Gruesome Finger Injury—Fans Send Prayers as Celtics Great Shares Shocking Photos
NBA Hall of Famer Paul Pierce has fans worried after revealing he’s in hospital with a horrific finger injury. The Boston Celtics icon stunned followers on Instagram by posting a photo of himself lying in a hospital bed, alongside close-up images of his bloodied hand and mangled fingertip.
The shocking pictures show deep cuts and blood covering Pierce’s finger, with the tip appearing to twist away from the rest of his hand. The cause of the injury remains unclear, but the severity was enough to send Celtics supporters and NBA fans into a frenzy of concern online.
Pierce, 46, didn’t share details about how the accident happened, but his caption hinted at optimism for his recovery.
“Surgery went well, I’ll be back soon,” he assured fans.
Messages of support poured in from across the basketball world, with fans and former teammates urging “The Truth” to stay strong and wishing him a speedy recovery.
Paul Pierce, who spent 15 seasons with the Boston Celtics and led them to an NBA championship in 2008, is known for his toughness on the court—but this latest injury is a reminder that life after basketball can be just as unpredictable.
For now, NBA fans everywhere are hoping Pierce’s finger heals quickly—and that the Celtics legend is back to full strength soon.
NBA and Celtics supporters were concerned about Pierce’s injuries, but Pierce’s remark suggests that he will recover well from surgery.

After fifteen seasons as a Boston fan favorite, Paul Pierce is still revered as a Celtics great. Drafted in 1998, Pierce spent most of his playing career in Boston, winning a title in 2008 and being named Finals MVP. In 2010, he guided the Celtics to yet another Finals appearance, but they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Following his tenure in Boston, Pierce played for the Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards, and Los Angeles Clippers before retiring from the NBA in 2017, per Wikipedia.
Pierce has been showing his support for the current team as Boston advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals for a third straight season after handling the Cleveland Cavaliers and will now face either the New York Knicks or Indiana Pacers.
Paul Pierce Drops The ‘N’ Word Live On Television
Former NBA player turned sports analyst Paul Pierce was discussing Sunday’s New York Knicks loss to the Indiana Pacers with co-hosts Skip Bayless and Keyshawn Johnson when he casually dropped the ‘N’ word effortlessly while on live television.
Co-host Skip Bayless clearly heard it as he looked on in shock, but he chose to let it go.
It’s likely that the FCC took offense to Pierce using the n-word on FS1. Undoubtedly, it garnered more attention for Undisputed than it had since Shannon Sharpe left Bayless’s program last summer.
