Eileen Gu knows how to take care of her body.
Eileen Gu has been taking major hits to her life and career over the past few weeks. The U.S.-born freestyle skier pushed back against criticism from Vice President JD Vance over her decision to compete for China at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Following the halfpipe event last week, Gu addressed the ongoing criticism she faces in the United States, including that from Vance. In a recent interview with Fox News, he referenced Gu, stating he hoped someone who grew up in the U.S. would “want to compete with the United States.”
Gu appeared unfazed. “I’m flattered. Thanks, JD! That’s sweet,” she replied playfully.
The intense public scrutiny has seemingly spilled over into other sports, as former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom also called her a traitor. She represented the United States at the junior level before deciding in 2019 to compete for China. At the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, Eileen Gu won gold medals in big air and halfpipe, along with a silver in slopestyle.
Despite what is being said, she continues to garner support and followers. The backlash and praise have led to an uptick in comments on her Instagram. A few pictures she posted from 2025 are now going viral again.

Freestyle skier Eileen Gu is one of the most impressive people on the planet. She has multiple X Games and Olympic medals and is among the world’s highest-paid female athletes due to lucrative endorsement deals.
When she is not competing, she relaxes and takes care of her body. She made international headlines in 2025 when she became just the third skier featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition.
Like most modern celebrities, Gu is active on Instagram and regularly engages with her followers. In a post from July 2025, Gu revealed she had just enjoyed her first spa day.

The very first picture showed Eileen Gu seated on a bench while rocking nothing but a towel. She was completely nude. After showing herself reading a book, it was time to hit the water. When she did, she was completely naked in the water.
Social media loved it:
“My hard-working baby❤️❤️❤️,” one fan said.
“Take care of your body and take care of yourself ❤,” a second fan wrote.
“We love healing your inner child 🥹,” a third person stated.
“Nice, relax and enjoy, Champ,” a fourth person told Eileen Gu.
Fresh off her Olympic triumph, Gu is only going to gain even more fame despite the backlash on her. Her bank account has certainly thrived over her decision to fly under the Chinese flag.
