JEOPARDY! has gotten a YouTube spin-off show, which will see celebrity guests compete on the beloved game show to raise money for charity.
Fans are split on the announcement, with some excited to see the celebrity guest stars try their hand at Jeopardy! and others claiming it’s unnecessary.

On Thursday, it was announced that Jeopardy! will be launching a brand new spin-off, which will air exclusively on YouTube, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The show, produced by Sony Pictures Television, is launching the show on the streaming platform in an effort to ramp up its content availability.
Jeopardy! YouTube Edition will be hosted by Ken Jennings and feature YouTube creators competing for the charity of their choosing.
The format of the game show will be similar to the television version, but it will mainly feature clues and categories related to internet culture and YouTube.
RuPaul’s Drag Race star and host of Monet Talks on YouTube, Monet Exchange, YouTuber Rebecca Black, and Brennan Lee Mulligan of the YouTube Show Dimension20 will be among the first competitors on Jeopardy! Youtube Edition.
Monet will compete for GLAAD, while Rebecca and Brennan play for The Trevor Project.
The first episode of Jeopardy! YouTube Edition will air on March 31 at 9pm ET with more exclusive content coming later.
On a Reddit thread dedicated to Jeopardy, one fan asked others on the site, “Will we be watching? IDK this feels a bit lame to me – Do we really need this?”
“We don’t need it. But it’s for charity and it’s not diluting the actual contestant pool. It’s just gen z/alpha celebrity jeopardy,” a commenter replied.
A second person posted, “Agreed. It can’t hurt to have limited runs like this that will help draw in younger viewers to the main show.”
“If this ends up working out and drawing younger people to the show, I could see the Teen Tournament making a comeback,” a third commenter suggested.
A fourth fan praised, “Monet X Change, Rebecca Black, AND Brennan Lee Mulligan? I absolutely need this.”
Another celebrated, “Idk if it’s needed, but they had me with Brennan Lee Mulligan.”
“It’s basically Celebrity Jeopardy with contestants that younger folks will recognize. It doesn’t hurt anything, so I’m totally cool with it. I might even watch,” a sixth fan posted.
Someone else wrote, “This lineup is fantastic. Rebecca Black! Monet X Change! And The Brennan Lee Mulligan! All icons, excited to watch.”
Sony Pictures Television worked with YouTube creative agency We Are Social to relaunch the Jeopardy! YouTube channel.
“Jeopardy! is one of the most successful and enduring brands in television history, with decades of cultural relevance and a loyal audience,” Sony Pictures Television game shows president Suzanne Prete said in a statement.
“As we bring our YouTube strategy to life, we’re incredibly excited to build on that legacy while connecting with new audiences in a way that feels fresh, interactive, and native to the platform.”
