BREAKING: Miami Heat Linked To Blockbuster Move For Kevin Durant In 2026
Miami registers interest in pairing Giannis and KD.
The Miami Heat have one of the most successful offseasons in recent memory. They traded for two-time league MVP winner Giannis Antetokounmpo. Apparently, they are not done, though. Now, an insider suggests that the team might bolster their rotation by trading for Kevin Durant sometime in the season.
The price to pay for getting Giannis was steep. Miami lost its star guard in the trade, along with future assets and three young rotational pieces. Aside from Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo, the team lacks another star or two to compete in the suddenly crowded East.
That’s where Durant’s name comes into the picture.

The Houston Rockets faltered in the 2026 NBA Playoffs. The team had hoped that bringing in Durant would hasten their championship timeline. Instead, they were in for a reckoning after they were ousted by a Doncic-less Lakers in just six games. Suddenly, talk about Durant’s fit in Houston has grown louder.
Could Miami benefit from having KD on board? Heat insider Brendan Tobin revealed that Durant and another name are in the mix for a possible trade.
“Durant and Irving — I saw a little Durant post on IG, those two, to me, I think, could be primed to be a Heat swing if it doesn’t go well for whatever reason. That to me looks like if you snoop around and be like what’s the obvious…I was getting hit up on the Kyrie Irving thing nonstop…I’m not telling you the Heat won’t trade for Kyrie Irving, and I think it would be unbelievably cool.”
At this point, Kyrie Irving would be a better fit in Miami than Durant. The Heat needs a floor general with a championship pedigree.
Miami Will Find It Hard To Make A Deal With Houston

With Durant still under contract with the Rockets, it’s going to be hard for the Heat to make a deal without compromising their starting lineup. The most feasible avenue for this to happen will involve Bam Adebayo.
That’s a one-for-one deal, which is a rarity in today’s league.
A multi-team deal would be attainable, too. However, it remains to be seen whether other teams will fully cooperate to help the Heat grow stronger on the court. A lineup of Durant, Antetokounmpo, and Adebayo would instantly catapult them to the top of the East. Easier said than done, though.
