Keaton Wagler was drafted 5th overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2026 NBA Draft. A former four-star recruit from Kansas, the 6-foot-6 combo guard saw a meteoric rise to become one of college basketball’s premier playmakers.
Wagler started all 37 games for the Fighting Illini during his lone collegiate season. Therefore, he led them to their first Final Four appearance since 2005. As a freshman, he set the Illinois freshman record with 663 total points.
On January 24, 2026, Wagler exploded for 46 points in a road win at Purdue, setting a school freshman single-game record. He won the 2026 national honor for the best shooting guard in college basketball. In addition, Wagler was named a Consensus Second-Team All-American.
