JANAI Norman has broken her silence on her abrupt exit from Good Morning America after the network decided not to renew her contract.

The news anchor took to Instagram on Friday evening to speak about her sudden departure.

In the video post, Janai, 36, reflected on her time at GMA and seemingly implied that it wasn’t her decision to leave.

“I’d hoped that we’d have more time. It’s been hard on me that our time was cut short. I have loved my job,” the TV star said.

“It has been a joy to connect with my coworkers and with viewers to help keep you informed and entertained and to create this community.

“So, it really breaks my heart that I don’t get to say goodbye. I’m so sorry that I don’t get to say goodbye. It would have been fun.”

Janai then shared the upside of no longer working on the morning show, saying she has more time to spend with her three children.

The journalist welcomed her youngest, a boy, with her husband, Eli, in December 2023.

They are also parents of another son and a daughter, whom they’ve chosen to keep private.

“I have these three young kids, and I have worked weekends their whole lives. Now they get more of me. And that is worth everything.”

“So, stay tuned! I’m sorry. I feel you,” she added and thanked fans for their support.

The Daily Mail revealed on Thursday that Janai, who had been a weekend anchor on GMA for four years, was let go.

“Her contract was up. There was a decision not to renew,” a source close to the situation told the outlet.

Hours earlier, Status reported that Janai was leaving the show.

Janai joined ABC in 2016, working as a reporter.

She was promoted in 2022 to an anchor position on GMA Weekend.

It’s unclear whether Janai will move to a new network or stay with ABC.

Janai’s replacement has not yet been announced.
