BREAKING: WNBA Makes Decision On Angel Reese & Paige Bueckers Following Betting Controversy

The WNBA has addressed the viral betting controversy involving Angel Reese and Paige Bueckers. And they have made it clear that the two stars will not face discipline following a deleted social media post.
The league released a statement after one of its official accounts shared a video during All-Star Weekend that appeared to show Reese and Bueckers making a $400 wager on an upcoming game between the Atlanta Dream and Dallas Wings.
The clip was later deleted, prompting questions about whether the players had violated the WNBA’s gambling policy.
The league has since issued a statement in which they claim the video was intended as a joke but acknowledge it should never have been posted.
“While the social media post was intended to be lighthearted, WNBA players are well aware of the league’s policies prohibiting betting on WNBA games and receive training every year reinforcing those policies,” a spokesperson said, per ESPN.
“We recognized that the post missed the mark, removed it shortly after it was published, and addressed the matter internally.”

The WNBA also said it would use the incident as a teachable moment rather than issue punishment.
“We will also use this as an opportunity to reemphasize with the players involved that conversations about wagering on WNBA games, even when intended as a joke, can have negative consequences.”
The now-deleted video showed Reese holding cash while playfully trash-talking Bueckers before the Dream-Wings matchup.
After Atlanta edged Dallas 82-81, Reese leaned into it, saying she would be requesting payment through Apple Pay.
She also shared a post captioned “DUBS IN THE MF CHAT” on X, along with the hashtag “cuatrocientos.”
The league’s gambling policy prohibits players, coaches and team personnel from wagering on WNBA games.
Sports betting has become a growing focus across professional sports, with leagues continuing to emphasize gambling education and integrity as legal wagering expands throughout the United States.
