As season two of The Golden Bachelor’s Women Tell All aired, fans were left confused over the ladies’ infatuation with Mel Owens, despite his ‘boring’ qualities.
The special, which aired on October 29, is typically an action-packed night filled with drama from both contestants and the leading man or woman.
But fans were left feeling like the leading man, Mel Owens, 66, was ‘boring’ as they wondered what the cast of the show’s second season saw in the former NFL player.
One viewer took to X, formerly Twitter, saying, “I can’t believe all these women really feel that hard for Mel. #TheGoldenBachelor.”
“Mel Owens: proving once again that charisma is not included. I haven’t grasped why ABC picked him. Because he played in the NFL? I nominate @SeanUnfiltered for next bach!” another declared.
“All of this for Mel? #GoldenBachelor #TheGoldenBachelor,” another asked, as someone else chimed in on X, “This is all so boring. Bring back the mess!”
One fan was left wondering, “Why am I even watching this? He’s a drip. #GoldenBachelor”
“Are these women vying for his heart still? Come on,” someone else echoed. One particularly harsh critic posted, “Mel hobbling in wearing his Oofas. He’s not a catch, ladies. He puts the dud in dude. #GoldenBachelor.”

Owens is a retired professional football player who was a linebacker for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League.
The second ever Golden Bachelor played college football for the University of Michigan from 1976 to 1980. He was then selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the first round of the 1981 NFL draft.
Owens was previously married to Brazilian hospitality expert Fabiana Pimentel Owens. The pair married in 2002 and separated in 2020 before finalizing their divorce in December 2024 following a lengthy legal battle.
Fans can tune in on November 12 to find out if Owens chooses either finalists, Cindy Cullers and Peg Munson, or neither at all.
