Colin Cowherd Raises Eyebrows With Harsh Caitlin Clark Criticism Over Her Playoff Record
Colin Cowherd issued a reality check for Caitlin Clark, stating individual accolades are no longer enough. He pushed for playoff success, noting she has a dependable co-star in Kelsey Mitchell.

But according to Colin Cowherd, the conversation around Clark is now entering a different phase.
Speaking on The Herd, Cowherd argued that individual brilliance alone is no longer enough for the Indiana Fever superstar. He believes expectations have shifted toward postseason success.
“When is she gonna start winning at the next level?” he asked. “She has not won a playoff series yet. My take is, she has her Pippen, Kelsey Mitchell… This is not hating on Caitlin Clark, but the stage of ‘Wow, who’s the new kid?’ I’m done with that.”
Cowherd clarified that he was not dismissing Clark’s talent or impact on the league. Instead, he suggested that the “new superstar” phase of her career is over and that championship expectations now come attached to her name.
He compared Clark’s current trajectory to Stephen Curry because of her long-range shooting and offensive creativity, while also suggesting she could eventually become “Jordan-esque” if she starts stacking championships.
The veteran analyst also pointed toward Indiana’s supporting cast, specifically mentioning Kelsey Mitchell as Clark’s version of a dependable co-star.
The criticism comes despite the Iowa alum already building one of the strongest early-career resumes in league history. In just two seasons, she has collected Rookie of the Year honors, an All-Star selection, multiple WNBA records, and an MVP-caliber statistical profile.
Veteran Analyst Snubs Caitlin Clark In Latest Comparison
While Caitlin Clark attracts the most noise around the league, Paige Bueckers continues to be tied to those conversations. However, veteran analyst Jason Whitlock believes the balance between the two young stars may already be shifting.
Following the Dallas Wings’ victory over the Washington Mystics, Whitlock made a bold declaration about Bueckers’ future compared to Clark’s.
“Azzi Fudd is a developing problem,” Whitlock wrote. “Dallas has something serious building. Paige is gonna win big before CC.”
Clark helped guide the Indiana Fever to the postseason as a rookie, while Dallas finished near the bottom of the standings last season. Still, Whitlock’s argument appears to center more on roster construction and long-term upside than on current results.
Dallas has aggressively reshaped its roster around Bueckers by adding players like Azzi Fudd, Alanna Smith, Jessica Shepherd, and Awak Kuier. The belief is that the Wings possess more overall size, versatility, and lineup flexibility than Indiana.
