STAR Search fans have expressed their frustrations with the judges for seemingly being “too nice” and not giving “honest” scores on the live reboot.

The revival aired its second live episode on Wednesday night with a fresh group of rising talent hitting the stage.

It ended with eight total acts advancing to next week’s shows after dominating their performances from music, dance, variety, comedy, magic, and junior categories.

The contestants performed before A-list judges Chrissy Teigen, Jelly Roll, and Sarah Michelle Gellar, who scored each on a scale of one to five stars – one being the least impressive, and five being on track to win the competition.

However, viewers questioned whether the panel was being genuine with their feedback and scores, as it appeared they shared more praise than criticism, even for the performances that didn’t seem as deserving.

Fans voiced their concerns on social media, with many pointing out the judges’ seemingly soft voting styles.

“Why were the judges so nice, it was bad?” one person wrote on X.

“All of these judges and NO ONE wants to be the Simon Cowell judge…” complained another, referencing the former American Idol judge, who is known for his harsh criticism.

“Are the judges getting paid extra every time they lie????” asked a third.

“These judges are acting like everyone is going to get participation trophies. Like they are afraid to say the truth,” called out a fourth.

“I guess… I knew granny wasn’t gonna make it. TBH they both should’ve went home and if the judges were honest with their scores they would’ve,” a fifth said, while mentioning two contestants from Wednesday’s show.

“Star search need to change these female judges. Annoying and boring,” someone else commented.

“We need someone like Simon Cowell. Actual judge. These judges are literally not judging anyone. They gave 3 stars but they gave their opinion as if they were going to give at least 4 stars,” remarked a seventh.

Others suggested that the judges be replaced with celebs who are more knowledgeable in the categories and who would be more truthful with their voting.

Based on both the live shows, fans noticed that Jelly Roll seemed the “nice” judge, as he gave five stars to multiple contestants early on.

Meanwhile, they noted that Sarah seemed to be the “Simon Cowell” of the group and was a little more cut-throat with her critiques, while Chrissy hovered somewhere in the middle.

Viewers were left disappointed after Tuesday’s premiere brought numerous hiccups to the show’s production.

Many ripped Netflix for seemingly being unprepared for the live show as they dealt with a “blurry picture and poor sound quality.

Apparently, several things didn’t go as planned, as a production source exclusively revealed to The U.S. Sun that two acts were pre-taped rather than airing live as originally advertised.

The insider claimed that technical difficulties during rehearsals prompted them to tape those performances an hour before the live show aired.

Star Search, hosted by Anthony Anderson, will continue its five-week-long series of live shows next week with new episodes on Tuesday and Wednesday at 9:00 p.m. EST/6:00 p.m. PST.
