Brian Windhorst has played a prominent role in ESPN’s coverage of the NBA since 2010. Although he’s an extremely reliable source, fans are starting to turn on him.
Windhorst has been making regular appearances on “Get Up” and “First Take” throughout the NBA playoffs this year. Prior to the start of the Eastern Conference semifinals, he made it very clear that he doesn’t believe in the New York Knicks.
Even after the Boston Celtics choked away Game 1, Windhorst refused to change his stance.
“They had to win this game, because the circumstances that gave them this opportunity may not present themselves again,” Windhorst said. “They were saying to each other on the court, like, we’ve been here before, we can do this, and that’s a cool thing to say, and you buck up your teammate, but the truth is that they had not, they had not been here before and they had not done this against the Celtics or any of the top teams in the league.”
Well, the same circumstances presented themselves again in Game 2. The Knicks erased a 20-point deficit to shock the Celtics and take a 2-0 series lead. Game 3 is set to take place at Madison Square Garden this Saturday.
Despite that impressive comeback from the Knicks, Windhorst isn’t ready to say they’ll win the series. He revealed on “First Take” that he still believes the Celtics have what it takes to get back to the Eastern Conference finals.

Unsurprisingly, some NBA fans are fed up with Windhorst’s analysis. They think he’s displaying anti-Knicks bias on ESPN.
“Brian Windhorst is a GENERATIONAL Knicks hater,” one fan said.
“Windhorst on Get Up just wanting to hate on the Knicks….. man, just give us some credit and respect,” another Knicks fan tweeted.
“Windhorst thinks if he keeps saying the same thing over and over it will end up being true about the Knicks & Celtics game,” a third fan wrote.
“Why is Brian Windhorst hating so badly on the Knicks after one of the biggest comeback wins in Playoff History Weird tone to this reporting,” another fan asked.
Maybe, just maybe, Windhorst will change his tone on the Knicks before Game 3 tips off this Saturday.
For now though, Windhorst is siding with the defending champions until they get bounced out of the playoffs.
