Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark added yet another accomplishment to her résumé this week.

After Team USA defeated Spain on Tuesday night, Clark was named MVP of the FIBA World Cup qualifying tournament in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Although she only started once during Team USA’s 5-0 stretch, she averaged 11.6 points and 6.4 assists per game.

Clark’s second season in the WNBA was unfortunately plagued by soft-tissue injuries. That being said, she reminded fans during the FIBA World Cup qualifying tournament that she’s a one-of-a-kind talent when healthy.

“I feel like I put myself in the best possible shape that I could be in at this point,” Clark told the Indianapolis Star. “Sometimes almost the first game is the hardest, but once you get in kind of the flow of things, and you figure things out, and you kind of get your wind back, you’re in a little bit better of a position.”

Clark’s boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, was thrilled about her being named MVP this week.

McCaffrey shared this news on his Instagram Story along with this brief message: “HER.”

It’s unclear if McCaffrey is planning a celebration for Clark. The assistant coach for the Butler men’s basketball team should have a bit more time on his hands since the Bulldogs’ 2025-26 season came to an end last Wednesday.

When did Clark and McCaffery start dating?

Clark and McCaffery “hard launched” their relationship in August 2023. They’ve shared plenty of photos together on social media since then.

“Happy 24th CC,” McCaffrey wrote on Instagram this past January. “Celebrating you is a privilege and I’m so grateful for the laughter and joy you bring to our everyday lives. 2026 has so much in store for you. I love you.”

We’d have to imagine McCaffery will be cheering Clark on once the 2026 WNBA season begins in May.
