Bill Belichick badly needs a fresh start after his disastrous debut on Monday night against the TCU Horned Frogs.

Millions of people couldn’t wait for this game. The hype was real. The celebrities came out. It felt like Deion Sanders’ debut with the Colorado Buffaloes a few years ago.

Unfortunately, after scoring the game’s first seven points, it would all go downhill from there. TCU scored 41 unanswered points on the way to a 48-14 win over North Carolina in Belichick’s first game as head coach.

The Horned Frogs led 20-7 at halftime and simply never looked back as the Tar Heels would score one final touchdown in the fourth quarter to end the terrible night. Following the game, even TCU’s X account took shots at Belichick.

The opener showed just how far North Carolina has to go just to be competitive on the field.

While her boyfriend was still actively coaching the game, Jordon Hudson, who was in attendance, eventually made her way down to the field to share something with him.

Cameras caught Hudson speaking with Bill Belichick while the game was still going on. These are the type of distractions that former NFL wideout Julian Edelman spoke out about during the offseason.

What’s Next For Bill Belichick?

Bill Belichick’s coaching debut was a forgettable one.

Considering how bad his team played, the legendary head coach should already be looking to turn the page to the next game.

In a nationally-televised broadcast, Belichick and the Tar Heels were dealt a 48-14 loss to TCU. It was downright embarrassing. The 48 points given up by the Tar Heels’ defense were the most points given up by a Belichick-coached team in a single game.

Heightened media coverage entering the game gave TCU all they needed to come out and stomp a mudhole in the backside of UNC and Belichick.

Belichick, who agreed to a five-year deal with UNC after his 24-year tenure in New England ended, has a lot of work to do.

There is nowhere to go but up. The Tar Heels are coming off a 6-7 season in 2024. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

After suffering a blowout loss to TCU in Bill Belichick’s debut as North Carolina coach, the Tar Heels head to play at Charlotte.
