What a scary moment…

Charlotte Hornets LaMelo Ball made the headlines on Wednesday, and not for the best reasons. The veteran guard, who was involved in multiple trade rumors before the deadline, stayed put in Charlotte, at least until the summer.

As the Hornets prepare to face the Houston Rockets on Thursday, Ball went for a ride in his custom Hummer. The guard crashed the vehicle in Uptown Charlotte on Wednesday.

LaMelo Ball’s car is easy to recognize. The 2022 GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 features a desert camo wrap on the outside with bright orange accents in the interior. The former No. 2 overall pick has been seen driving the car around the city for several years.

WSOC-TV obtained footage of the incident. The video shows Ball attempting to turn left in an intersection. At the same time, a gray Kia sedan coming from the opposite direction tried to go straight. They inevitably ran into each other, with both vehicles suffering considerable damage.

Ball’s car’s driver’s side front tire was ripped off after the collision. The Kia looked visibly damaged on the front end. The player appeared to be fine after the incident.

Both vehicles were towed from the intersection, while the player was picked up in a Lamborghini to leave the scene. Amid a tumultuous 2025-26 NBA season, Ball’s image isn’t the best around the league.

Even so, his coach praised him for his impact beyond the scorebox.

“Regardless of the shooting numbers, he continued to scrap and claw defensively. His engagement there was really good. For the most part, he continued to try to play through it and not let his shot-making, or shot-missing, dictate the energy he was gonna give to the game, and try to impact the game in other ways,” Charles Lee said.

This situation is still developing. More details will be shared later.
