LIVE with Kelly and Mark star Deja Vu has opened up about her recent health diagnosis that resulted in facial paralysis.

Deja, who is the longtime announcer for the nationally syndicated talk show, revealed that she’s been privately battling a rare medical condition.

While the TV star has been vocal about her health journey on social media, she had yet to address it on the morning show.

Hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos encouraged her to discuss her diagnosis during Monday’s broadcast.

“When we were out at the Oscars, I was hit with a bout of Bell’s palsy,” Deja said while donning a black face mask, concealing her nose and mouth from the camera.

She then explained that the condition caused her face to be partially paralyzed and “droop to the side.”

The media personality removed her face mask to reveal the right side of her face, which was noticeably drooping, forcing her to speak from the left side of her mouth.

“But yeah, over here, everything is kind of pushed to the side,” she said, pointing to the right side of her face.

Deja noted that she’d been dealing with these symptoms since returning from the Academy Awards, which took place on March 15.

Kelly responded, telling Deja, who has worked as the show’s emcee since April 2021, that she’s “such a trooper” for pushing through this unexpected health setback.

“Mine isn’t as bad as some that I’ve seen online, and I’m not in a lot of pain; it’s just more inconvenient, so, all things considered, it’s actually not that bad,” the radio personality said.

Deja then shouted out the listeners of her multiple radio broadcasts and the Live viewers for offering kind words of support over the last few weeks.

She revealed her treatment for her Bell’s palsy has been medication and holistic approaches, like massages and acupuncture.

“I’m not in a lot of pain; it’s just a matter of processing it, and it has to take time because everybody’s journey in this whole paralysis is different.

“I’m hoping that it will wrap up soon, but if you have any suggestions, let me know,” Deja added.

According to the Mayo Clinic, Bell’s palsy, also known as acute peripheral facial palsy, causes sudden weakness in the muscles on one side of the face, which is usually short-term and improves over a few weeks’ time.

The exact cause is unknown, and it could occur at any age.

Deja has been a staple on the talk show since she joined when Kelly co-hosted with Ryan Seacrest.

Ryan left in April 2023, shortly before announcing his new gig as the host of Wheel of Fortune.

Mark, who producers had long eyed for the role, took over as his wife’s co-host that May.

Although fans mainly only hear her voice on the program, she often appears on-screen and has even filled in as the host when needed.

Deja filled in for Kelly as co-host on two separate occasions in 2022, with Ryan, and in 2023, with Mark.

She experienced hilarious blunders both times, including wardrobe malfunctions and mistaking the name of a holiday movie.
