CNN anchor Erin Burnett running to shelter in place in Tel Aviv

CNN crew put themselves in a dangerous situation amid an ongoing war.

Being anywhere in Tel Aviv right now is a matter of life and death.

CNN anchor Erin Burnett found that out the hard way during a recent interview with guest Dan Dyker. Burnett broadcast from Israel on Tuesday night as the country continues to take rocket and drone fire from Iran. This follows the joint U.S.-Israeli strikes against the Iranian regime.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei died in the attack, though rumors suggest he is still alive.

The anchor was speaking with Dyker, an adviser to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, when sirens began to blast across the city. It forced the two of them to strip their mics and run for cover.

Where the CNN Crew Headed to After Sirens Blasted Over Tel Aviv

CNN reporter Erin Burnett had to evacuate to shelters in Tel Aviv while sirens blared out across the city. The host appeared shaken as she guided her guest to safety. However, even as one of the cameras continued to roll, they continued the interview.

As they were walking, the alerts could be heard in the background. She said while on the move: “Here we go, we are just going to get onto this camera. Come with me, Dan, you can leave that there…”

While walking, she added, “I am just going to move slowly while Dan is coming with me. And we are going to move.”

She then explained what was going on in Tel Aviv to CNN viewers. “So you hear the sirens now, and this is all around the area we are in, within Tel Aviv.”

The clip ended with both in a concrete fortified stairwell. Burnett said, “It’s unpredictable in terms of when. People are camping out in parking garages to find safe places. So it has completely disrupted life here.

It’s been a long time since she’s been on NFL sidelines, working alongside play-by-play voice Kevin Harlan and analyst Trent Green. Before that, she cut her teeth covering college football and basketball on CBS Sports Network. She’s also spent time on ESPN, filling in for SportsNation and First Take.

But Collins isn’t just a familiar face on Sundays. Her resume includes the Winter Olympics, FIFA World Cup, Super Bowl, NBA Finals, World Series, you name it. She was also the face of Yahoo! Sports and hosted a few shows on the Golf Channel along the way.

This September, she’s set to open the season on the West Coast, covering the Houston Texans vs. Los Angeles Rams matchup. In Week 2, she’ll be reporting from the sidelines again, this time for the Denver Broncos vs. Indianapolis Colts game.

Collins knows how to get more attention each season. As she’s ready, fit, focused, and already trending, it seems that it will be a bit easier for her this time.
