‘Sunday Night Football’ will look very different in 2026.

Hall of Fame head coach Tony Dungy may not be the only notable on-air talent to be let go from NBC’s ‘Sunday Night Football’ program.

On Wednesday, news emerged that Tony Dungy was likely to be cut from the ‘Sunday Night Football’ lineup. The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts head coach has been part of NBC Sports’ NFL coverage since 2009.

But according to another report, Dungy may not be the only popular NBC Sports personality to be let go.

Drew Lerner of Awful Announcing reports that Dungy’s ‘SNF’ on-site colleague, Rodney Harrison, is likely out as well. Not only that, but on-site host Jac Collinsworth also faces an uncertain future with the network:

“Awful Announcing has learned that it is unlikely analyst Rodney Harrison will return next season and that Jac Collinsworth’s role on the show is also in question. Along with Dungy, the trio made up the show’s satellite studio that traveled on-site to each Sunday Night Football game throughout the season.”

Lerner also reports that ‘Football Night in America’ crew members aren’t pleased with how the news came out:

“Awful Announcing has also learned that those involved with the Football Night in America team are frustrated by how the news is unfolding, with some hearing about potential changes through media reports instead of directly from NBC.”

Jac Collinsworth’s father, Cris Collinsworth, has been the ‘SNF’ analyst in the booth since 2009. He worked with Al Michaels through the 2021 season, until Mike Tirico filled the play-by-play spot.

Changes At ‘Sunday Night Football’ Are Nothing New For NBC Sports

There has been a tremendous amount of turnover at the ‘SNF’ studios over the years. It started when Tirico replaced Michaels, who left for Amazon Prime Video’s ‘Thursday Night Football’ coverage after his deal with NBC expired.

NBC hired New Orleans Saints legend and former quarterback Drew Brees for an analyst role in 2021. However, he left the network after just one season.

Former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett and ex-New England Patriots safety Devin McCourty joined ‘Football Night in America’ in 2022 and 2023, respectively. Maria Taylor joined NBC Sports in 2021 and has been the studio host since 2022.

The bottom line is that NBC Sports is used to shuffling its NFL coverage lineup. Still, parting ways with Harrison and Dungy is a surprise move, considering they’ve both been there since 2009.
