It was an emotional night on Dancing With the Stars for Danielle Fishel, who opened up about her cancer diagnosis before being cut from the competition, and one cast member who she seemed to lean on was none other than Whitney Leavitt, ending rumors that the two were locked in a feud.

The Boy Meets World star, 44, was eliminated at the end of the ABC show’s rock and roll hall of fame night, after performing a contemporary routine that earned 34 points from the judges.

The elimination came after a season that saw her face tough critiques from the judges, and also become the subject of feud rumors with fellow contestant Whitney Leavitt, 32, after the two were caught having a charged moment on camera early in the season.

Their altercation came at the end of Week 3 when Lauren Jauregui was eliminated.

At the end of the episode, as the cast gathered around to hug her and Brandon Armstrong, Whitney was seen trying to embrace Danielle with a smile on her face–before the actress seemingly scolded her and turned back to the fifth Harmony singer, with Whitney then looking chagrined.

However, despite what seemed to be a tense moment, the two actually grew close while competing for the additional weeks of the competition.

Whitney paid tribute to Danielle on Instagram shortly after her elimination, sharing a photo of them hugging and penning a sweet message for her friend.

“To my queen @daniellefishel you shined so bright tonight. So grateful @dancingwiththestars brought us together. You radiate such a brigh energy that lifts up every single person that’s around you,” she wrote.

“I love you so much, Danielle. So grateful for the friendship. I’m so proud of you!”

Danielle later shared the tribute on her own story, adding her own emotional message.

“I loooooove you and your willingness to put yourself out there week after week even in the face of near constant negativity,” she said.

“Those of us who know you, adore you and you helped make this experience amazing for me. Thank you, friend,” she added.

Danielle also spoke about Whitney while reflecting on her journey on the show on a post-elimination episode of her Podcast, Danielle with the Stars.

Talking specifically about the week of competition ahead of her elimination, she got emotional as she admitted she leaned on the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Star when she struggled with her contemporary.

“Whitney is, gosh I can say so many wonderful things about every single person on this cast,” she said. “Whitney is the first person to say, ‘I can do this. Do you want me to do this? I can take on this. Can I take this on? How can I help? What can I do?’”

Fishel then admitted she was going to start crying again as she continued to share her thoughts about her co-star.

“This past week, that was really difficult for me with the contemporary dance,” she continued. “Whit ey was one of the first people I reached out to. And so was Mark [Ballas]. I texted Whitney and I said I’m habing a really hard time this week, and she said, you know, ‘talk to me.’”

“We ended up sending each other voice notes back and forth and she was, really, god, she’s good people. She’s really good people. I’m going to miss her.”

Fishel also admitted she would miss the rest of the cast as well, specifically mentioned Jordan Chiles and Dylan Efron, admitting she and Dylan, 33, had an alliance from “day one.”

Fishel is expected to return to the show for the Nov. 25 finale.
