A devastating air tragedy unfolded in India on Thursday, as an Air India flight en route to London crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad.

The flight crashed shortly after takeoff from the Indian city, carrying at least 242 people. The airline said in a statement that the plane had 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, one Canadian, and seven Portuguese.

Initial reports from various news outlets and officials confirmed a devastating loss of life, with no survivors.

Amid the grim recovery efforts and the somber news of widespread casualties, reports emerged that one individual, Ramesh Viswashkumar, miraculously survived that crash.

Ramesh is marked against seat 11J, though his boarding pass says 11A on the Air India flight.

He is a British national found alive in a seriously injured condition.

Footage from the site shows him being surrounded by locals and limping his way to an ambulance.

“When I got up, there were bodies all around me. I was scared. I stood up and ran. There were pieces of the plane all around me. Someone grabbed hold of me and put me in an ambulance and brought me to the hospital,” revealed Viswash to the media, and Ahmedabad CP Gyanesh Singh also confirmed the same.

What Is Next In The Investigation of The Doomed Air India Flight?

The sudden and unfortunate Air India plane crash near Ahmedabad is deeply disturbing the world.

No one expected such an aviation disaster to occur. 242 people were on board, and the initial reports suggested that no one would survive. However, it is now reported that there was a survivor.

The cause of the crash is currently unknown and is under investigation by Indian authorities.

It’s too soon to know what caused the crash and why it went down so suddenly after takeoff. Investigations into major aviation incidents often take weeks or months to release initial findings, and a final analysis can take a year or more.
