In a recent sit-down with Megyn Kelly, Karoline opened up about their whirlwind romance, saying they met during her congressional campaign when a mutual friend invited Riccio — a successful businessman — to a fundraiser.
“We met and we were acquainted as friends… and then we fell in love,” she recalled.
Kelly didn’t hold back, asking if Karoline hesitated when she realized he was 59 and she was just 27.

“Yes, of course,” she admitted. “I mean it’s a very atypical love story… but he’s incredible. He’s my greatest supporter, my best friend, and my rock.”
From Campaign Trail to Marital Bliss
The couple got engaged in December 2023, with Karoline sharing the moment online:
“The best Christmas of my life. I get to marry the man of my dreams. I feel SO overwhelmingly BLESSED. Thank you, God.”
They tied the knot just a month later — in January 2025, days before Donald Trump’s second inauguration.

Karoline’s young family also made headlines at the White House Easter Egg Roll in April, where they were spotted on the South Lawn. Nicholas looked sharp in a tan suit and purple tie, pushing baby Niko — dressed in a baby blue outfit — around in a stroller.
Observers online were quick to comment on how “age-defying” her husband appeared, and many praised the couple’s low-key elegance.
While critics have questioned their age gap, Karoline’s loyal fanbase sees a love story that breaks convention — and proudly so.
