A junior varsity player sustained two spinal fractures after an opposing player threw him to the ground, then belly flopped on him for absolutely no reason.
15-year-old Colton Mims was playing for Lakeshore High School against Kalamazoo Central High School on Thursday evening when he suffered a severe injury on a strange play in the third quarter.
After getting blocked and thrown to the ground by a Kalamazoo player wearing No. 73, he was met with the unexpected ordeal of getting jumped on.
As it turns out, the recording shown below was made by his mother, Courtney Mims.
You can check it out here, but we do warn that it’s disturbing.
“And I at first was like, is that my son? And as soon as it clicked that it was, I couldn’t be stopped. I had to go down there. It was I’ve never felt anything like it. I’ve never been as upset or shaken up as I was over something for my son,” Courtney told WSBT.

The teenager was taken to the hospital, where he learned that his spine was broken in two places. Fortunately, he has been discharged and is recovering at home.
His mother says they don’t know if he will be able to play football again, but he is expected to make a full recovery.
“These boys are high school boys. They’re 15 years old. The game means a lot to them. It’s their whole life right now,” she said. “They’re there from before I get up to go to work in the morning till after dinner, putting in the work and for somebody to try to take that from somebody doing so much is awful for me to see.”
The incident has been followed by a few other disruptions in high school games, including a crazy brawl that took place while players were on the handshake line on Friday night.

NBC dropped a huge announcement when they roped in the services of Michael Jordan. With the league returning to the network next season, NBC is said to have some big plans with the Chicago Bulls legend. While it is clear that he will be a part of the overall coverage, the media outlet has remained tight-lipped about the same. Till now, it was only known that Jordan will be acting as a ‘special contributor’ for NBC. But now, there might be some shocking details emerging.
Speaking on the topic, Alex Sherman of ‘CNBC’ provided some insight into the matter. He pointed out that the preliminary plans for Jordan are to appear in taped segments. This way, Jordan will be providing analysis on the games. These tapes are expected to be aired either at halftime or at the end of each game.
Michael Jordan’s role on NBA on NBC revealed:
“I’m told the plan is for Michael Jordan to appear in only taped segments during the season to provide analysis that will air during pregame or halftime shows. How that evolves over time is still to be determined.”

Extending the topic further, ‘CNBC’ also reported that the deal with Jordan was orchestrated by none other than his longtime friend, Jon Miller. Meanwhile, after landing such a huge deal, it is quite expected that Michael Jordan will be elated.
