San Francisco 49ers quarterback Mac Jones claims to have witnessed an unsettling sight ahead of his team’s ‘Thursday Night Football’ win over the Los Angeles Rams.

The former first-round pick has seen his role reduced to that of a backup, but has given an excellent account of himself filling in for Brock Purdy.

According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the QB told his teammates he saw a d3ad b0dy floating on the water outside the team hotel in Marina del Rey, California, hours before Thursday’s game.

Russini reports that Jones was on his balcony when he saw the body and immediately alerted others. The police were called while the team loaded buses for the stadium, with players seeing investigators and a coroner’s van on their way out.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed a probe.

We have to assume that randomly spotting a d3ad b0dy floating around can’t be great. However, Jones went on to put in an impressive shift against the Rams, throwing for 342 yards and two touchdowns as he led the Niners to a 26-23 overtime win, despite an injury scare.

Of course, fears were eased once he was caught snacking while getting checked on the bench.

While he has gone 3-0 as a starter with San Francisco, Jones insists he isn’t looking to take the job from Purdy.

“They brought me here to play as a backup and that’s my job,” he said, via 49ersWebzone.com.

“Brock’s the starter of this team, and right now he’s dealing with something, and for him to go out there last week and play when you know he probably wasn’t at full health, he cares about this team.”
