Travis Turner in shool gear

Travis Turner’s alleged victim has broken her silence.

Virginia high school football coach Travis Turner remains on the run amid accusations of child pornography. And his alleged victim has finally broken her silence.

The child in question said they did not immediately realize they were a victim and was made to feel like they were the problem.

Turner, a coach and physical education teacher at Union High School, vanished from his home on November 20.

Police were en route to his Appalachia residence when he took off into a heavily wooded area with a gun. He has not been seen since.

The authorities charged Turner with 10 counts of child pornography and solicitation of a minor three days later.

Meanwhile, the Wise Board of Education held a meeting on Monday night during which members of the public were allowed to speak on the matter for the first time.

The Kingsport Times-News reports that one parent read a letter allegedly written by the victim.

“I am a victim of exploitation by a teacher in this county,” it stated. I did not feel like a victim… I felt like I was the problem. I felt like I had embarrassed the school, damaged the reputation of the coaching staff and disrupted something I was supposed to protect instead of myself.”

The alleged victim also praised the way a certain administrator handled the matter.

“Thankfully, under a different administrator my situation was handled promptly and professionally by immediately notifying the appropriate authorities,” they added.

The child’s grandfather also spoke during the meeting.

“I’m proud of my granddaughter,” he remarked. “You as a board need to make some hard decisions … what she did probably saved some other children.”

One resident claimed the school questioned the alleged victim without her parents being present, leading to angry locals confronting school officials on their handling of the case.

Virginia State Police, the FBI and the Marshal’s service remain on the hunt for Turner. They have placed a bounty on his head.
