Ana de Armas answered questions about her relationship with Tom Cruise for the first time.

“It’s so much fun, and we’re definitely working on a lot of things,” de Armas, 37, responded when asked about the Mission: Impossible star, 62, during her Thursday, May 15, appearance on Good Morning America. “Not just one, but a few projects with Doug Liman and Christopher McQuarrie and, of course, Tom. I’m so excited.”

Cruise is set to star in Liman’s currently untitled SpaceX movie that the pair are cowriting with McQuarrie, 56.

De Armas, meanwhile, is not officially attached to the intergalactic film, though she has recently been spotted alongside Cruise on multiple occasions. While neither actor has publicly confirmed their relationship status, a source recently told Us Weekly that the pair have been on a few dates.

“It’s low-key, still new and in the early stages,” the insider exclusively told Us earlier this week. “Their romance is definitely on the down low.”

According to the source, de Armas and Cruise met through mutual friends, such as Penelope Cruz.

“Penelope put in a good word for her both personally and professionally,” the source added.

Cruise previously dated Cruz, 51, for three years after meeting on the set of 2001’s Vanilla Sky. The insider added to Us that the pair remained friendly after their 2004 breakup. Cruz, now married to Javier Bardem, later starred with de Armas in 2019’s Wasp Network.

The source further confirmed to Us that the Cuban actress initially met with Cruise about a work project earlier this year before any romance developed.

“They’ve gone out on some dates and it’s very low-key,” the source continued. “It’s in the early stages, and he’s been courting her.”

While the insider claimed that Cruise is “really into” the Blonde star, she wants to proceed cautiously.

“She isn’t looking for anything to move too fast, she’s taking it really slow,” the source added, noting de Armas also values her privacy. “She doesn’t like the public attention. With [ex-boyfriend] Ben Affleck, that’s one of the things she didn’t like.”

De Armas, who was married to Marc Clotet from 2011 to 2013, dated her Deep Water costar Affleck, now 52, between 2020 and 2021. She was later linked to Paul Boukadakis and Manuel Anido Cuesta, both of whom the actress never publicly discussed.

Cruise, for his part, has been married twice — to Nicole Kidman from 1990 to 2001 and Katie Holmes from 2006 to 2012.
