Arch Manning “Venmo Payments” have gone viral on X amid the John Mateer saga.

Mateer is facing some scrutiny following sports betting allegations, with screenshots of “sports gambling” Venmo payments surfacing on social media.

The Oklahoma quarterback has issued a quick denial, insisting he’s never bet on sports while claiming the screenshots stem from inside jokes between himself and his friends.

“The allegations that I once participated in sports gambling are false,” he wrote in a social media post. “My previous Venmo descriptions did not accurately portray the transactions in question, but were instead inside jokes between me and my friends.

He added:

“I can assure my teammates, coaches, and officials at the NCAA that I have not engaged in any sports gambling.”

Oklahoma has launched an investigation, noting that it takes allegations of sports betting very seriously, although the NCAA hasn’t opened up a formal investigation.

With Mateer’s payment screenshots trending, similar posts appearing to be from Arch Manning’s account have also gone viral.

If there’s any doubt on your part that the screenshots above are real, it’s because they’re fake.

Even Manning, who lost his student ID a few times after reporting to campus at Texas, isn’t that irresponsible.

Fans are having some fun with the situation, and we could expect more college quarterbacks to fall victim to counterfeit payment statements this week.

In the meantime, the quarterback is gearing up for his first season as a starter with the No. 1-ranked Longhorns and will be put through an immediate baptism of fire on August 30th when he faces the No. 3-ranked defending national champions, the Ohio State Buckeyes.

As for Mateer, he will await Oklahoma’s findings. It sounds like he expects to be cleared.
