BOMBSHELL: Vanessa Bryant Breaks Her Silence Pregnancy With Involving 27-Year-Old Pro Basketball Player

Vanessa Bryant appeared to have a clear message for people spreading rumors about her private life.

The 43-year-old shared two Rihanna memes on her Instagram Stories after unsupported claims began circulating online that she was pregnant with her fifth child. Some versions of the rumor also alleged that the father was an unidentified 27-year-old professional basketball player.

No credible evidence was offered to support either claim. Vanessa had not announced a pregnancy, confirmed a new relationship or been publicly identified with the supposed player mentioned in the posts. Reports covering the speculation described it as unverified and noted that some users were relying on old or out-of-context photos.

Rather than releasing a formal statement, Vanessa responded in a way that left little room for confusion.

She reposted a meme showing Rihanna floating in the water with a snorkel mask on her head, a drink in one hand and her middle finger raised toward the camera.

The message across the image read, “Me protecting my peace, not pregnant & having fun all summer.”

Vanessa followed it with another Rihanna meme taken from a red-carpet appearance.

“I’m not mean, I’m just not the one,” the second message read.

The Stories were posted on June 1, 2025, as online gossip about Vanessa’s personal life began spreading across Facebook, TikTok and other social platforms. Her choice of memes was widely interpreted as a direct denial of the pregnancy claim and a warning that she had no interest in entertaining the discussion.

The response was brief, but it addressed the most important part of the story.

Vanessa was not pregnant.

The rumor involving a younger basketball player also remained completely unsupported. No name was provided, and there were no confirmed sightings, public comments or reliable reports connecting her romantically to a professional player of that age.

Much of the reaction surrounding the rumor focused less on whether it was true and more on whether Vanessa should be allowed to move forward with her life after losing Kobe Bryant.

That debate was based on a strange premise.

Even had Vanessa been dating someone, she would not have owed the public an explanation or needed permission from basketball fans who had never met her. The fact that the pregnancy claim was false only made the outrage surrounding it more unnecessary.

Kobe Bryant and the couple’s 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, on January 26, 2020. Seven other people aboard the aircraft also died as they traveled to a youth basketball tournament.

Vanessa and Kobe had four daughters together: Natalia, Gianna, Bianka and Capri. Following the deaths of Kobe and Gianna, Vanessa continued raising their three surviving daughters while protecting the family’s privacy and preserving the legacy connected to her husband and daughter.

That has not stopped people from closely examining nearly every photo she shares.

In this case, old or unclear images were passed around as supposed evidence of a pregnancy. From there, the story expanded to include an unnamed younger athlete, even though no reliable outlet had confirmed that such a relationship existed.

The rumor then began feeding on itself.

People reacted to other people’s reactions, screenshots moved between platforms, and the lack of an identified boyfriend somehow did not prevent users from discussing him as though he were a real and confirmed person.

By the time Vanessa responded, an unsupported social media post had already turned into a wider conversation about her family, loyalty and whether she should ever date again.

The reaction also exposed an uncomfortable expectation often placed on widows in the public eye.

Some commenters appeared to believe that Vanessa moving forward romantically would somehow disrespect Kobe. Others pushed back, pointing out that losing a spouse should not require someone to remain alone indefinitely.

That wider argument was unnecessary in this particular case because Vanessa had not confirmed that she was seeing anyone.

Still, the discussion revealed how quickly strangers can begin treating a public figure’s grief and personal choices as community property.

That should have ended the discussion.

Instead, the rumor continued appearing on websites and social media pages, with some later versions presenting the story as though Vanessa had made a major revelation involving a professional basketball player.

She had not.

The only thing Vanessa publicly communicated was that the pregnancy speculation was false and that she wanted to protect her peace.

Whatever decisions she eventually makes about dating, relationships or the next stage of her life remain hers to make.

Basketball fans may feel connected to Kobe because of what he accomplished during his career, but that connection does not give them control over his widow’s future.
