Iowa Hawkeyes star Tavion Banks has been arr3sted, and his mugsh0t has also been released.
Banks, a 6ft, 7in wing who transferred to the University of Iowa after helping Drake reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament last year, has been charged with multiple offenses following a drunken bar fight over the weekend.
Fortunately, it doesn’t appear that his encounter was nearly as serious as the one involving former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez, who was apprehended after a drunken incident that ended in him being stabbed and hospitalized in Indianapolis earlier this month.
The FOX analyst was officially charged this past weekend.
Banks, meanwhile, is accused of brawling while under the influence of alcohol at the ReUnion Brewery in Iowa City, not far from the Uni’s campus.

TMZ Sports broke the story on Monday afternoon, but couldn’t provide much more in the way of details. However, the outlet did note, citing court documents, that the guard was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and fighting/violent behavior.
“The UI Athletics Department and men’s basketball program are aware of Tavion Banks’ citation over the weekend,” the Iowa Athletics Department confirmed in a statement Monday.
“He is subject to established university protocol regarding the UI Student-Athlete Code of Conduct, and the rules and regulations set for members of the men’s basketball program,” UI added.
Tavion Banks was the MVC Sixth Man of the Year last season after setting himself up to get noticed with excellent play while at Drake. His contributions saw the Bulldogs achieve a 31-4 record and upset No. 6 Missouri in the first round during March Madness.
He averaged 10.1 points per game during the campaign and scored 15 points in the aforementioned upset, adding nine rebounds.
Banks followed former Drake coach Ben McCollum, who is now with the Hawkeyes, and is one of six players to transfer from Drake to Iowa.
