British native Simon Cowell became a household name in the U.S. after his debut as a judge on American Idol in 2002. He gained fame for his harsh criticism of the singers and no-holds-barred attitude. But he was more than just a judge. He has been working behind the scenes in the entertainment industry for years. He left American Idol after nine seasons to focus on the other reality competitions he created.

His Got Talent shows are a worldwide success. He stepped in front of the cameras again in 2016 as a judge on America’s Got Talent. The fan-favorite reality TV star suffered a serious head injury and had to miss filming. Keep reading to find out what happened and how he is doing now.

Simon Cowell Has History Of Mishaps

Simon Cowell is not a great bike rider. He’s suffered two serious injuries in recent years while riding an e-bike. He broke his back in 2020 after falling off an electric bike at his home. His young son witnessed the accident and was reportedly traumatized.

The AGT judge suffered facial injuries in another spill off an e-bike in 2022. Before that, he was injured when he fell down stairs in his home in 2017. The accident-prone television personality once again suffered a serious injury that made him miss filming.

AGT Host Sustains Serious Head Injury, Stops Filming

Season 20 of America’s Got Talent came to a dramatic conclusion last month when Jessica Sanchez was crowned the winner. She previously competed on the show’s first season back in 2006. The show will return in 2026 for Season 21.

After AGT wrapped for the year, Simon Cowell headed back to Britain to film a new season of Britain’s Got Talent. He splits his time between his home in England and his mansion in Malibu, California.

But Simon Cowell was forced to miss the early auditions for BGT after suffering a serious head injury. The Sun reported that auditions in Birmingham, England, were abruptly cancelled last Thursday.

Filming resumed on Friday, but Simon Cowell was absent. X-Factor alum Stacey Solomon took his place. He returned the following day with a visible injury on his forehead. Fans noticed it in a video the AGT judge posted on Instagram.

“Simon had a terrible headache and migraine — caused by an accidental bump on the head. He’s fighting fit now though – and was revelling being in Birmingham and back in his judge seat,” a source told the outlet.

How Is He Doing Now?

Simon Cowell addressed his injury once he returned to film BGT. “It’s Simon, I’m alive and I’m in Birmingham, I just want to say thank you for all your get well messages,” he said in an Instagram video.

He didn’t explain how the injury happened, but he’s on the mend. The new season of Britain’s Got Talent is set to air in 2026.
