Los Angeles’ offense has struggled under Roman in the postseason since he became the team’s offensive coordinator in 2024. It was on full display in the latest contest. The Chargers’ offense was held to three points in their loss to the New England Patriots in the wild-card round of the playoffs.

Before Roman was with the Chargers, he spent five years with the Baltimore Ravens. He was doing so well that he was ultimately promoted to the offensive coordinator position. Tom Pelissero would add that the Los Angeles Chargers are also firing offensive line coach Mike Devlin.

The team struggled mightily on the offensive line this season, and Herbert was one of the most pressured quarterbacks in the NFL. Many fans have suggested that he might go back to school to become a doctor instead. Injuries to Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater were a big part of that. However, it doesn’t excuse the poor performance from the rest of the players all season long. Not even the team signing an offensive tackle with a sketchy history was going to work for them.

Now the Chargers will look to replace Roman and try to find someone who will elevate their offense. With a number of head coaches leaving their 2025 posts, there is a flurry of coordinators available.
