Things have taken an unexpected twist.

Trooper Involved In Sideline Altercation With South Carolina ...

The incident involving a South Carolina football player and a game-day policeman has taken a shocking new turn.

Oscar Adaway, a Gamecocks running back who was approached in a somewhat unfriendly manner by the lawman during a loss to Texas A&M, is seeking an apology.

South Carolina lost 31-30 in that game, while Adaway had a literal brush with the law. Adaway and teammate Nyck Harbor received some hostile treatment on the day, resulting in the Texas State Trooper being sent home.

The incident drew reactions from figures such as LeBron James.

According to Postandcourier.com, the RB has filed a criminal complaint against the officer.

“Adaway retained counsel. The attorney, B. Keith Jackson, told The Washington Post that Adaway wants to press assault charges against the trooper. The Brazos County district attorney has heard the claim and is considering whether or not to move forward with charges,” the Courier reports.

The trooper’s name remains unknown. The Texas Department of Public Safety said it would investigate the incident. It has so far refused to disclose his identity.

Adaway, who called TAMU campus police to report the incident, wants the cop to apologize to him personally. Harbor, meanwhile, would not comment on whether the situation had been straightened out.

The former said the incident left him in need of help from a mental health expert. He also claimed to have lost sleep over it.

“You see this sort of thing on TV — different scenarios of police bullying people here and there — but you never feel it and understand it until you’re actually in the situation,” he told the Post.

“We know the staff and gameday operations team at Texas A&M work extremely hard to provide a safe environment for student-athletes and fans,” USC athletics director Jeremiah Donati also said in a statement.
