National anthem singer choice for Super Bowl is creating issues among fans.
The NFL announced the performers for Super Bowl 60, and many fans aren’t happy with the choices. Charlie Puth will sing the national anthem at Levi’s Stadium on February 8. Brandi Carlile will perform “America the Beautiful,” and Coco Jones will sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”
This year’s show already includes a big halftime act. Bad Bunny was picked to perform the halftime show, and league officials say they want a mix of voices.
“Super Bowl Sunday is the world’s biggest entertainment stage, and we’re proud to spotlight artists who embody the very best of music and culture,” said Jon Barker, senior VP of global event production for the NFL. “Beyond the game itself, the Super Bowl is a global celebration. These artists bring a distinct voice to the moment, helping set the tone for a day that will captivate fans around the world.”
Although the league faced a lot of hate for the Bad Bunny decision, some even filed petitions asking the league to replace him. Now the situation has gone more intense with this national anthem call by the league.

Some fans showed their anger after the announcement. A few questioned whether Puth has the vocal range for a moment this big.
“Man we’ve fallen from when Whitney Houston sang at the Super Bowl. Charlie Puth? He’s not gonna give us vocals I’m afraid,” one fan wrote.
One more added, “Who the heck is Charlie Puth. Maybe I should approach the NFL: fly me to the game, with tickets. I will sing the National Anthem acapella. Fly me home. No extra charge, no band to put up, no cheesy light show. There… fixed their problem.”
One fan commented, “Charlie about to harmonize the anthem like it’s a TikTok duet.”
Puth did not ignore the situation going on regarding the Super Bowl. He answered his critics and kept the tone light. “I’ll never claim to be as good of a singer as Whitney Houston ever was. But I assure you we’re putting a really special arrangement together in D major. It’ll be one of my best vocal performances,” he wrote.
Even Desiree Perez, CEO of Roc Nation, stated, “Charlie, Brandi, and Coco are generational talents, and we are honored to have them – alongside our extraordinary deaf performers – on Super Bowl LX’s world stage.”
Super Bowl 60 will take place at Levi’s Stadium on February 8. The league expects a large global audience. And despite the pushback, Puth is ready to face the crowd and is confident enough.
