On Thursday, Rashee Rice pleaded guilty in Dallas to charges stemming from a high-speed, chain-reaction crash on a Dallas highway in 2024. Rice pleaded guilty to two felony charges related to the receiver’s role in a multi-car crash last year.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ wide receiver was sentenced to 30 days in Jᴀil and five years of probation as part of a plea agreement.
Rice was sentenced to deferred probation as a result of the plea deal, meaning that his case will be dismissed if he successfully completes probation.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter added that the 30 days of Jᴀil time can be served at any point during Rice’s five years on probation.
Additionally, Rice was ruled to pay the victims’ medical expenses, totaling $115,481.91.
Following the announcement, a media release from the DA’s office included a statement from Rice’s lawyer, Royce West, on Rice’s behalf.
“Last March, I was involved in a high-speed accident in Dallas. There have been a lot of sleepless nights thinking about the damages that my actions caused, and I will continue working within my means to make sure that everyone impacted will be made whole. I urge everyone to mind the speed limit, drive safe, and drive smart,” Rice said in the statement. “Last and certainly not least, I am profoundly sorry for the physical damages to person and property. I fully apologize for the harm I caused to innocent drivers and their families.”
The 25-year-old receiver participated in the Chiefs’ voluntary OTAs last month, and returned to Kansas City this week for mandatory minicamp.
Rashee Rice played in just four games last season, making 24 catches for 288 yards and two touchdowns. His season was lost to an injury.
In his rookie 2023 season, Rice caught 79 passes for 938 yards and seven scores.

Rashee Rice pleaded guilty to charges connected to a high-speed crash in Dallas last year and agreed to a 30-day Jᴀil sentence.
According to the Dallas District Attorney’s Office, Rice was behind the wheel of a Lamborghini, making “multiple aggressive maneuvers around traffic” at 119 mph.
This case’s resolution could open the door for the NFL to levy its own penalty against Rice.
Adam Schefter states he may face a multi-game suspension.

Discussing her recent surgery, she added: ‘I feel very grateful to have completely recovered.
‘I feel really good. I have a lot of people reaching out who have had the same thing.’
Davina McCall, 56, announced in November she’d been diagnosed with a colloid cyst, a rare type of benign brain tumour, and has supported Fearne.
She continued: ‘Everyone needs a Davina. She’s been amazing, weird that we had the same health thing going on at the same time. She’s so calming and we speak every day. She is just the best
It comes after Fearne has seemingly made another thinly-veiled dig at her ex-husband as she gushed that she is the happiest she’s ever been in a positive update.
Speaking to Scott Mills on his BBC Radio 2 breakfast show, Fearne gushed that she is ‘really happy’ and is ‘springing out of bed in the morning ready for life’.
Scott, who has known Fearne for 25 years, said he has never seen her ‘more positive or happier’, prompting Fearne to agree and reply: ‘Yeah I feel great!’
