Has Rob Lowe closed the door on 9-1-1?
The 61-year-old actor starred as fire captain Owen Strand in 9-1-1: Lone Star for five seasons before the Fox series was canceled last year. Months later, ABC greenlit a brand-new spinoff, 9-1-1: Nashville, which is slated to premiere Oct. 9 and will see Chris O’Donnell leading a Tennessee firehouse.
Lowe told Variety that he’s “really excited” to experience the new universe with fans when the show premieres next month, but didn’t give any clear answer as to whether he could suit up again in Nashville.
“I love Owen Strand and I love how people miss that character,” he said. “It means a lot to me that the people really related to him and liked him.”

On the topic of a potential return, though, Lowe told the outlet, “At the moment, I don’t think there are any plans.”
Still, he admitted, “I don’t ever rule anything out.”
“I’ve been getting live updates from my brother Chad, who’s the executive producer/director, and it’s all my friends on it. I play golf with Chris O’Donnell. Kimberly Williams-Paisley, I’ve worked with twice, who’s the most adorable, wonderful woman.”

“I keep hearing people go, ‘It’s crazy! We’re hanging from a bridge!’” Lowe continued. “I’m like, ‘Yeah, that’s what you’ve signed up for!’”
“I’m just glad I don’t have to wear the fireman outfit in the Nashville summer; that’s the number one thing I’ve been thinking about.”
Lowe previously told PEOPLE he’ll “never say never to anything” when asked about possibly reprising his 9-1-1: Lone Star role in the future.
“It’s a character that means a lot to me,” he said. “I have such respect and admiration for first responders, and it’s an honor whenever I can bring their stories to the screen, so you never know.”
