BREAKING: Savannah Guthrie Breaks Her Silence After Mysterious Today Absence Involving Major Exit Fears

TODAY host Savannah Guthrie has sparked concern after she missed the second day in a row of the show amid months of searching for her mom Nancy.

Craig Melvin, who usually anchors the morning show alongside Savannah, shocked viewers when he introduced her stand-in Laura Jarrett.

While he introduced his co-host for the July 9 instalment, Craig didn’t give fans a reason for Savannah’s absence.

He said: “And a very good morning to you, welcome to Today. Thank you for starting your Thursday morning with us.

“Laura Jarrett in for Savannah this morning.”

Laura added: “Yeah, on this Friday eve.”

Craig continued, seemingly brushing over Savannah’s absence: “Let’s get going we’ve got a lot to tell you about this morning.”

Just yesterday Sheinelle Jones was also spotted stepping into Savannah’s coveted role on Today – no reason was given for this absence either.

Fans have been worried Savannah’s latest string of no-shows were connected to the harrowing kidnapping case involving her mom.

But according to reports that’s not what is going on.

The mum-of-two is off for a few days and enjoying spending time with her family, a source told TMZ.

TV star Savannah‘s mysterious absences have nothing to do with the investigation into her mother’s abduction.

The 54-year-old left fans worried earlier this summer when she took a brief break from the show.

However, their qualms were soon put to rest after it was revealed she was actually caught up in pre-production meetings for her upcoming Wordle gameshow.

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was reported missing in Arizona after she was last seen on January 31.

The investigation into the horrifying events is still active with the FBI releasing photos and video footage of an unidentified subject outside of Nancy’s home.

Ransom notes have been received by TMZ and other outlets during the months long search.

While there was confusion as to whether the notes were fake and FBI Phoenix spokesperson has said: “The FBI and its task force partners have received several ransom notes over the course of this investigation.

“Some have been deemed to be extortion attempts without legitimacy. Other ransom demands may potentially be legitimate and are still being investigated as such.”

Savannah was of course utterly heartbroken by the news of the abduction and begged on the Today show: “Someone needs to do the right thing. We are in agony.

“And to think of what she went through. I wake up every night in the middle of the night. Every night. And in the darkness, I imagine her terror. And it is unthinkable.”

The NBC anchor took a step back from the show soon after her mom disappeared.

Breaking down in tears, she added at the time: “It’s just too much to bear to think that I brought this to her bedside, that it’s because of me.

“I have to say, I’m so sorry, Mommy. I’m so sorry. I’m sorry to my sister and my brother and my kids and my nephew and Tommy, my brother-in-law.

“I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry. If it is me, I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry.”
