Fever's Stephanie White reveals WNBA fine after criticism of officiating | Fox News

To the surprise and disappointment of many basketball fans, Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark won’t be playing tonight due to an injury.

On Thursday, Clark’s head coach Stephanie White addressed her injury and how long she’s expected to be out.

Speaking to reporters, White said that the groin injury emerged last night and that Clark is considered “Day-to-day” with the injury. She deferred questions about Clark’s recovery treatment and said that Clark’s status moving forward will depend on how she responds.

“I think it’s very much a day-to-day thing, how she responds to treatment. I stay in my lane and let our strength and conditioning and our AT staff do what they do best,” White said.

White expressed confidence that Clark would be back on her feet – and on the court – soon enough.

“C’s shown that she’s tough and she’s a quick healer, so we’ll see,” White said.

Basketball fans have been crushing White for how she’s managed Clark in recent games though. By far the biggest gripe people have with White is her decision to continue playing Clark late in a blowout win over the Connecticut Sun a few days ago:

“She brought her back in the game with 12 second left and up 8 just to get tackled to the ground and get hurt. Fire her now,” one user demanded.

“This to me screams that Caitlin was never 100% healthy and she’s been expected to keep playing. Then finally decided to mention something again,” wrote another.

“I must be stupid about how coaches keep up with their players but she seems really disengaged with her players health/injuries always saying I don’t know you’ll have to ask the training staff. You’d think she’d want to keep up on all of them,” a third remarked.

“‘She’s a quick healer.’ If it’s a grade 2 she won’t be back until August. If it’s a grade 3 then she will be out for the rest of the season. Also, Steph is never aware of anything aren’t you supposed to be the coach? Maybe you should be a lil more involved with your players.”

“Throw her under the bus way to go…”

How many games will Clark be out for?
