It feels like the beef between Kayla Nicole and Taylor Swift has just begun.

The ex-girlfriend of the Kansas City Chiefs star went insanely viral on Halloween when she went as Toni Braxton while mocking her moves from the R&B singer’s 2000 hit “He Wasn’t Man Enough.”

Some of the lyrics in that song include the following:

Listen, girl
Who do you think I am?
Don’t you know that he was my man?
But I chose to let him go
So why do you act like I still care about him?
Looking at me like I’m hurt
When I’m the one who said I didn’t want it to work
Don’t you forget I had him first?

Social media was absolutely sure Kayla Nicole was throwing shots at not only Travis Kelce, but some shade towards Taylor Swift.

If you’re wondering why, Swift seemingly started it when she released a track called “Opalite” that fans thought was about her. Before Halloween, it was suggested that Nicole clapped back, having shared a clip of Eva Marcille on ‘America’s Next Top Model” to her Instagram in which she tells Tyra Banks, “I don’t compare myself to other girls.”

Travis Kelce’s ex-girlfriend, Kayla Nicole, is breaking her silence and addressing the rumors on her podcast about what she meant by her Halloween costume.

Nicole seemingly hit back at the pop star when she dressed up as Toni Braxton from her 2000 music video “He Wasn’t Man Enough” for Halloween 2025, after many speculated that her getup was a subtle diss to her ex, Travis Kelce, and his fiancée, Taylor Swift.

It appears that she wasn’t going for that at all.

Nicole denied “tearing other women down” with her Halloween costume, she said on Saturday’s “Pre-Game” podcast episode. She added that she only wanted to “celebrate” Toni Braxton.

“Halloween is an opportunity for me not to be myself and to dress up as someone that I admire, someone that I’ve been a fan of, someone that I think is a chef’s kiss,” the 34-year-old said.

“You guys don’t want celebrities … to dress up as celebrities, but I’m confused because what am I supposed to do?” she asked. “A doctor? Superwoman?”

Kayla Nicole further hit back at critics “try[ing] to project their own narratives” about what she did, saying, “I’m not in the business of tearing other women down. I am in the business of celebrating them.”

She added, “I’m trying to step it up every year. Every year, I’m trying to raise the bar. I’m trying to be the Heidi Klum of Halloween, but on the performance side.”
