Michigan Wolverines offensive line coach Sherrone Moore on the field

Michigan wanted to clear something about the firing of Sherrone Moore.

Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel is speaking out about the firing of Sherrone Moore. Manuel discussed the matter for the first time on Sunday. He called it difficult personally, but something that had to happen.

The program fired Moore earlier this month. He apparently had an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. That staffer turned out to be Paige Shiver. She remains employed by the program. Soon after his firing, Moore was arrested for a third-degree felony charge of home invasion. He also caught one count of stalking and one count of breaking and entering.

The prosecutor said Moore is accused of grabbing butter knives and a pair of kitchen scissors. He then threatened to kill himself at the house of the woman with whom he reportedly had a relationship. It turned into an even messier situation.

Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel addressed some of the allegations surrounding Moore. He made it clear there are things being reported that are “untrue.”

“There’s not much I can say,” Manuel told reporters on Sunday.

“There’s an investigation continuing into Coach Moore — there’s a cultural evaluation around the department — and so we will obviously know some facts. There’s some things that are out there that I can’t comment on, that are untrue, and there may be some things that they find, but that’s why we do an investigation, and I’m very open to that.”

Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel promoted Moore to head football coach in January 2024. He was supposed to succeed Jim Harbaugh after he left for the NFL. Unfortunately, Moore had some demons he was dealing with.

His behavior towards women was exposed, and they had to part ways. Whether the school knew about his other transgressions remains unknown. As for now, Sherrone Moore is unlikely to ever make it back to coaching college football.

Moore’s character has been destroyed, and no school will take that chance with him after what transpired with Michigan. Cheating on his wife was one thing, but getting arrested was the last straw.

The former coach has been released on bond and is required to wear a GPS tracking device. Moore also cannot contact the staff member. His only option right now is to try to fix his family.

Every seat in the arena was draped with a T-shirt reading “Hvala za vse,” which translates from Slovenian to “thank you for everything.” It was a thoughtful nod to Doncic’s heritage and impact on the franchise.

Before tip-off, during the starting lineup announcements, the Mavericks played a tribute video showcasing some of Doncic’s most iconic moments in a Dallas jersey. The emotional gesture clearly resonated—moving Doncic to tears in front of the crowd that once called him their own.
