WNBA star Caitlin Clark officially became a world champion after helping Team USA win gold at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.
Initially, the highly publicized tournament in Germany featured significant ups and downs for the talented young guard. She struggled with her shooting efficiency during several intense matchups.
“Obviously after last night, didn’t play our best, wasn’t great at all,” Clark told reporter Allie LaForce mid-tournament.
It all worked out in the end, but it did end with controversy.

A podium clip from Team USA’s gold-medal ceremony has been circulating after Caitlin Clark is shown standing with both hands behind her back during the anthem. In the same frame, Breanna Stewart and Sonia Citron are seen with a hand over the heart while most of the roster stays in the same stance as Clark.
Critics are treating the video as a deliberate slight rather than a standard at-attention pose. Still, other users point out that a hand on the heart is customary, not a required rule.

“Have to admit I am disappointed that she followed the militant skanks and didn’t honor the anthem. Only 2 had the backbone to do what’s right. Won’t be watching any more women’s FIBA or the Olympics after this sh-t,” one fan said.

“Her wokeness mentality defends the very people who will cut her down at any chance they get. Brainwashed with Stockholm. Very sad,” a second fan wrote.
“She doesn’t stand up for herself, let’s those dykes and blacks push her around, f–k her,” a third fan added.
Clark Comes Off The Bench

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark made history during her senior debut at the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup.
Initially, the electric guard came off the bench in the opening matchup against China. She recorded an incredible 14 points and 11 assists without committing a single turnover. Consequently, her 11 assists set a brand-new single-game tournament record for any American player.
“Unsurprisingly, Clark thrived off the bench for Team USA,” media analysts at Yahoo Sports noted after her debut.
However, her production fluctuated heavily over the course of the international tournament. Specifically, she went completely scoreless from the floor in separate games against Italy and Spain. Ultimately, she finished the tournament averaging 7.8 points, 2.2 rebounds, and a team-high 5.3 assists per game.
Fortunately, Clark bounced back beautifully in the gold-medal game against France. She scored a highly efficient 12 points in just 13 minutes.
