Caitlin Clark did something Friday night that no player in WNBA history has ever done, and she barely blinked about it afterward.
The Indiana Fever guard dropped 45 points and 10 assists in a win over the Seattle Storm, becoming the first player in league history to hit that exact stat line. She capped the night with a dagger three-pointer with 38.1 seconds left, giving Indiana a lead it wouldn’t relinquish in a 110-107 finish at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
“Some nights, like, you know you have it — even before the ball tips,” Clark said after the game. “I felt like it was going to be one of those for me. I feel like you just have to believe you’re going to have those type of nights, and you have to visualize having those types of nights.”

What made the outing even more absurd is that Clark needed only 29 minutes to do it. Her scoring outburst adds to a growing pile of WNBA records, following her own historic 30-point, 10-assist milestone set earlier this season.
When reporters pressed her on the significance of the moment, Clark didn’t offer much sentiment.
“I mean, it’s cool. I don’t really care,” she said. “I know what I’m capable of, and I know what this team is capable of. It’s my job to help us win and be the best team in the WNBA, and I don’t think we’re there yet. So it’s my responsibility to help us get there.”
That blunt response fits a pattern for Clark, who has repeatedly downplayed personal accolades in favor of team success. Her focus on winning echoes the record-setting stretch of 20-point, 10-assist games she strung together earlier this year, a run that outpaced the rest of the league combined.
Clark Insists She’s Still Getting Better

Despite torching Seattle for 45 points, Clark claimed she still has another level to reach.
“I still feel like I can play better,” she said. “It’s one of the hardest things, coming back from injury and being out of the groove and having time off. You just have to kind of continue to believe in yourself and believe in the work you put in.”
She’s shown flashes of that ceiling all season, including a game-winning buzzer-beater against the Washington Mystics that had fans losing their minds courtside. No other player has ever posted a 45-point, 10-assist line in franchise history, cementing Friday’s game among the greatest single-night performances the league has seen.
The Fever won’t have much time to celebrate. Indiana returns to action Saturday evening against the New York Liberty, with Clark already turning her attention to the next test.
