Kate Martin scored 10 points in 15 minutes during the Golden State Valkyries vs the Indiana Fever game. Caitlin Clark shared a heartfelt message for her former Iowa teammate.

The Indiana Fever vs Golden State Valkyries game once again ended in the expansion team’s favor, with the Indiana franchise losing all three games in the regular season. Caitlin Clark was on the sidelines due to injury. Still, the Valkyries HC, Natalie Nakase, praised Clark and even lauded Kelsey Mitchell’s form before the game.

But the host held up the explosive scorer to win the game and move up in the league standings. Ironically, it was Kate Martin’s sixth win over the Fever, and she is undefeated against the Indiana team. CC, though, showed a heartfelt gesture for her former Iowa teammate.

Caitlin Clark Showers Love On Kate Martin

Just over a year ago, Kate Martin was present at the 24th WNBA draft to see her best friend and Iowa teammate drafted in the ‘W’. Martin clapped for the first overall pick by the Fever on draft night. Interestingly, the Las Vegas Aces picked Martin in the draft, handing the league a unique rivalry.

Till now, the Illinois star has the upper hand over CC in head-to-head matchups in the WNBA, and the win on September 1 handed her an impressive 6-0 record against the Fever team. The 2024 Rookie of the Year winner was still happy for her friend and shared an encouraging message after the game.

“Proud of you,” Clark wrote in a caption, tagging Martin. Martin came off the bench for the Valkyries and played in just 15 minutes. She scored 10 points and collected two rebounds in the game.

Both players had illustrious college careers, with Martin being the second scoring option, behind CC, for the Iowa team. They led the side to back-to-back NCAA finals and won two conference championships.

Caitlin Clark And Kate Martin Reunite With Former Iowa Teammates

There were not only two Iowa players at the Chase Center on the night, as Gabby Marshall and Jada Gyamfi also attended the mega fixture. Even though all the players chose different paths in their careers, Marshall did not pursue basketball as a career, and Jada Gyamfi is still playing in her senior year with the Hawkeyes team. The Fever superstar stays in touch with them.

Clark even shared pictures with Marshall and Gyamfi, wishing them a happy birthday. Former teammates clicked a picture together, saving the memories.

All four players recently met during the 2024 college football season, and a more recent event was after CC’s jersey retirement in February 2025. Marshall and Gyamfi were present for Fever’s exhibition preseason game at the Hawkeyes’ arena.
