Who knew that we would get a Tua Tagovailoa-Cam Newton beef?

During an episode of ESPN’s “First Take” last week, the former Carolina Panthers superstar criticized Tagovailoa’s play so far this season. Newton called out Tagovailoa for a few lackluster performances to open the 2025 season, where he has already thrown four interceptions, and the team is winless.

“Tagovailoa is making more than Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson, Jalen Hurts, Baker Mayfield, Matthew Stafford, Jayden Daniels,” Newton said. “Am I pocket watching? No, I’m putting things into perspective here.

“In this case, it should be more money, more expectations. … What you’re being paid, what you’re asked to do, what you have the capability of — from one quarterback to the other, I look at the situation like come on dawg. Especially when you’ve got a Ferrari and a Lamborghini and other amenities that other quarterbacks wish they had.”

Tua Tagovailoa was asked about those comments this week.

The Miami Dolphins quarterback must have failed to double-check Newton’s resume before firing back at the now-ESPN talking head and podcast host.

“Well, anybody can play quarterback in this league then,” he said. “I mean, I wanna see anybody on the streets come play quarterback. I mean, Cam’s doing his thing, for sure. But I think it’s easier to be able to hold a clicker and talk about it that way, or talk about what someone else is doing wrong when you’re not going out and having to do the same as them. I don’t think anybody can play quarterback.”

Newton won the 2015 NFL MVP award and took his team to the Super Bowl. His numbers also include over 32,000 passing yards, 194 touchdowns, and another 75 scores on the ground.

Tua Tagovailoa is 0-1 in the playoffs in his career.

Cam Newton Rips Tua Tagovailoa’s Response

Tua Tagovailoa has not been playing well in 2025. The Dolphins are 0-3, and the team seems to be falling apart at the seams.

During a crucial game against the Bills, Tua was even caught trying a no-look pass that ended up being intercepted in a game they would go on to lose.

After hearing what Tua had to say about him in response to his comments, the former league MVP had a couple of shots amid some advice.

“When I see the situation that’s taken place in Miami, it’s more Love Island drama than football,” Newton said. “And in large part, I wouldn’t say it’s all on Tua, but it is a main ingredient, and I just know what he’s capable of. There was times we’ve seen Tua Tagovailoa, and it was at a high level. You don’t make $53 million… by just being a random on the street.”

Newton would add that it’s also easy for anybody to go 0-3 in the NFL.

Despite the low blow, Newton left a last message to Tagovailoa.

“Let it rip,” Newton said.

“When you have Jaylen Waddle, a Tyreek Hill, and Mike McDaniel as your coach, you have all the assets and amenities. You have once shown that you’re capable. I don’t know what this is in Miami now.”

On Monday night, Tua and the Dolphins have a chance to secure their first victory as they face the 0-3 New York Jets.

Luka Doncic ‘destroys’ the Mavs on his return. Gets standing ovation and shows love to Mark Cuban

Luka Doncic hits 45 points in his first game in Dallas since being traded to the Los Angeles.

It’s rare for a home crowd to cheer the visiting team, but Luka Doncic’s return to Dallas was no ordinary night.

Just days before February’s trade deadline, the Mavericks shocked the NBA by sending their 26-year-old superstar to the Lakers—a move that outraged fans and sparked backlash toward GM Nico Harrison.

On Wednesday, Doncic played his first game back in Dallas since the trade. The arena was filled with fans in both his old Mavs and new Lakers jerseys, many chanting “Fire Nico” in protest.

Despite the emotion in the air, Doncic delivered a dominant performance, scoring a game-high 45 points to lead the Lakers to a 112-97 win. It was a powerful return for one of the league’s brightest stars—and a night Dallas won’t soon forget

The Mavericks pay tribute to Luka Dončić

While the Mavericks’ decision to trade Luka Doncic remains heavily criticized, they handled his return to Dallas with undeniable grace. The organization made sure his first game back as a Laker was met with respect and appreciation.

Every seat in the arena was draped with a T-shirt reading “Hvala za vse,” which translates from Slovenian to “thank you for everything.” It was a thoughtful nod to Doncic’s heritage and impact on the franchise.

Before tip-off, during the starting lineup announcements, the Mavericks played a tribute video showcasing some of Doncic’s most iconic moments in a Dallas jersey. The emotional gesture clearly resonated—moving Doncic to tears in front of the crowd that once called him their own.
