Savannah and Nancy Guthrie

Guthrie’s family members have maintained relentless pressure for answers, offering a $1 million reward and making public pleas for her safe return.

Meanwhile, frustration has grown over the investigation’s lack of progress as it moves deeper into its second month without any significant breakthrough.

It comes as the mysterious disappearance of an Air Force general has several chilling similarities to the Nancy case.

As questions continue to swirl around the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, a former FBI agent believes the kidnapper likely surveilled her home repeatedly before the night she vanished.

Speaking on investigative journalist Brian Entin’s YouTube channel, ex-FBI agent Maureen O’Connell indicated the ev,idence points to careful planning that most likely involved multiple reconnaissance trips to Nancy’s address. “If I’m doing an op[eration], and I’m gonna do it on a Saturday night, then I’m gonna do dry runs on Saturday nights” she said. “I wanna know what it’s like. What lights are on? Is she generally home? Does she stay up late? Is she watching TV?

“And, you know, the more you think about this, about someone having to case this house, the less likely it seems that it would be a family member because they would probably already know all this information, right?” The revelation comes after a criminal attorney highlighted 6 major red flags in Nancy’s case that “don’t add up.” It comes after a mystery man who claimed he “saw Nancy 5 days ago” offered chilling new proof.

O’Connell then provided her concluding assessment of how the suspect may have prepared. “So, I would say, they were casing the place and doing a dry run for a Saturday evening hit,” she said, adding: “By hit, I mean, you’re hitting the house, you’re going there, you know, you’re doing this.”

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on the evening of January 31 at her home in the Catalina Foothills area near Tucson, Arizona, reports the Mirror US.

Alarm grew when she failed to appear at a friend’s residence the following day, prompting her family to file a missing person report.

When officers arrived at her property, they quickly realized this was no routine missing person case. They found what they described as “very concerning” evidence, including blood near the entrance that was later identified as Guthrie’s, along with signs that her home security system had been tampered with.

Doorbell camera footage released during the investigation showed a masked individual near the home around the time she disappeared, reinforcing investigators’ belief that she was taken against her will.

The case has garnered significant public interest in recent weeks, in part because Guthrie is the mother of Savannah Guthrie, co-anchor of the Today show.

Despite extensive search operations and ongoing federal assistance, no arrests have been made and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects.

Investigators are also looking into whether the suspect attempted to destroy potential evidence. Officials are examining a reported internet service outage in the neighborhood on the night of Guthrie’s disappearance, which may have affected nearby security cameras. More recently, investigators have been questioning local residents regarding construction workers who were present in the area. Subsequently, ransom demands seeking millions in cryptocurrency were received, though authorities have yet to confirm their authenticity or connection to those responsible.
